I had Rolex service issues no less than 2 months after I bought my Z-series SD. When I first got the watch, I noticed that the bracelet looked a little awkward at the link nearest to the case. As I familiarized myself with the watch a little more, I noticed a couple weeks later that what I was seeing was that the pin/screw between two links was bent and the links were interfering with each other. As there is an RC in my city, I looked past at taking it to the AD from whom I bought it and walked right into Rolex. A Rolex watchmaker looked at it and told the service girl to tell me the bracelet was still in it's "break-in" period and that the problem would eventually correct itself. I wasn't convinced. I called RC from work and told them I wanted a work-order written up stating the watch was fine. That way if I had major issues with the bracelet later on, I could argue for reparations in court. I guess they got scared because they asked to see it again. This time I gave the watch back to my AD. The AD manager looked at the bracelet and agreed with me. It was a bent screw/link. They sent it back to RC. A week later, I got my SD back, this time with a new bracelet!
It pays to raise a stink with these watches, especially if later down the road when the warrantee expires, RC tells you, yes, there is a problem but.................as the watch is out of warrantee, you'll have to pay to get it fixed. That'll be $3000 for a new case please! |

Seems to me that Rolex has possible teething problems with the Deep Sea. The caseback is supposed to flex under extreme pressure but obviously the piece that you got wasn't as well made as it should be. Also, I was surprised to feel the bezel turn as easily as it does when I handled the watch at my AD recently - it certainly didn't have the reassuring, solid feel that's present when you turn the bezel on the Sub or Sea-Dweller. Glad to hear you got a refund and it was all sorted out though, and let's hope Rolex get their QC act together soon.

I hope the expression, "they don't make'em like they used to", doesn't start applying to Rolex. To allow such a problem to slip-by is inexcusable IMHO. Fast forward 5 years and they tell you the movement has moisture damage - OUCH!

Next thing to do...
and its totally understandable as it is (or was) a USA Warranty issue. However, this being said by RUSA calls for you to next take it up with GENEVA direct. And just tell them you are not happy with what RUSA calls tolerance and ship the thing to GENEVA and ask em to put another screw back on that "fits flush" for cryin out loud (where's my bat ! ). Keep your receipts and correspondence and when it comes back with the new back - send RUSA the bill for EVERYTHING ~ aah there's my bat !
Thanks, Randy Never mind... |

Mine is PERFECT as usual all ROLEX are, so i have doubt with this...
unless some dealer opened the watch for some reason. It is simply NOT possible that a watch will leave the factory !

Boy, are you the Rolex marketers dream. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Rolex watches are not perfect. They are mass produced watches with many imperfections that show up to be "within tolerances".

At one point in time my friend and I purchased the same year, make & model of car (within a few months of one another). My friend had a freak transmission problem within 30 days of ownership that was fixed under warranty. Using your logic I guess I should have told my friend he's obviously mistaken and it was simply NOT possible that he could have a problem because my similar car was faultless! Give me a break...I feel like this is something my 10 yr old nephew would say. Yikes! |

of course its possible that some rolex will leave the factory with some "defects" . i am very realistic, no worrys , i wrote this a little bit more provokative to get some more people posting here, and it works fine BUT, to be honest, IF any of my rolex will have a "defect" I will have a picture to proof it !! We are living in a digital world .... BTW : ALL my brand new rollies where perfect, even under the mircoscope.

I seem to remember the OP raising this issue before the watch went away & the forum asked for pics but none were posted...
But, having said that if he/she received a full refund there must be merit in the "story"... I just wish some mebers would post some decent macro shots to illustrate what the issue might be...
