don't get carried away. Enjoy what you have and don't think you need to have 3, 5, 10 of these timepieces.

Keep all documents that have to do with your watch in one place along with the box. These are valuable and could be lost if you spread them around.

Feeling indulgent could arise if having such an expensive object is new to you and might be particularly felt when directly confronted with instances of poverty and those less fortunate. There is not a straightforward
way to cope with this feeling. I have struggled with this in the past and have many personal ways of rationalizing being comfortable with having more than most. It is a personal matter at its core and you will have to search for your own answers as suggesting to another specifics is ultimately both subjective and judgemental. Perhaps buying your Rolex will spur both a personal and societal inquiry and discovery. Enjoy!
I suspect very few people suffer with what you describe. Its just a watch. Wear it and forget it.

Enjoy it! After the honeymoon period is over, explore all the different strap options to change up the look or feel. Only buy the best tools for strap changes though!

Don't get watch fever and add to your collection too quickly.

i have some very amazing watches that I could not imagine letting go, but I was more satiated as a one-watch guy. Be careful.

Otherwise, insure it. Put it on your wrist, enjoy it, and don't worry about a thing.

Congratulations!

Great time piece. One small thing I may add. You now have a Rolex Sub. Not a Sub no date. There is no such thing. Now if you had a 116610 then that would be a Sub date! The original Submariner had no date. Then came the Sub date.

Yes you’re over thinking it
Telling you my thoughts and what to do with YOUR watch will just perpetuate you over thinking things

Just wear the watch and enjoy

Mistake 1:
I am not wearing it, I keep it in the safe because it is my good watch. Comes out at weddings, graduations, funerals and Christmas/Hanuka/Easter

Mistake 2:
I got it scratched, I am gonna get a cape cod cloth and remove it.

Mistake 3:
I got many scratches (like 5!), I am gonna send it for a polish. I only had the watch for a year!

Wear it and enjoy it, put some mileage on that puppy.
Don't freak out at scratches, the only watches without any are the ones kept in the box (which defies the purpose of having one).

Wear it, don’t worry about scratches, and never, ever, use a loupe to inspect it!!! Make some great memories with your family and your Sub.

Agree. Also the “for sale” section, as it will make you buy more watches. Really.

This, no need to type “no date or ND” every time you refer to your watch. It’s a Submariner. Enjoy owning it and making memories with it. If you love it enough, you shouldn’t care about how much it’s worth today versus last month or whatever. Just let it serve it’s purpose for you!

Advice for a new owner? How not to feel self-conscious or indulgent? Mistakes not to make in the first few days?

Thoughts for an over-thinker?
Stay off of watch forums. That would be my #1 piece of advice. Same thing goes for car forums. It's full of blowhards trying to 1 up each other.

Just enjoy the watch.

Honestly no one will notice. I wear a DJ41 diamond dial on jubilee and fluted bezel and no one knows what it is and it’s very flashy imo. So many watches that look like a sub and not having the cyclops it will fly under the radar imo. Congrats and just wear it.

Wear it, wear it and do no stop to wear it, years from now you would found a lot of pictures of you with the SubC in your wrist, your companion!
