First Rolex Today Good and Bad

My wife got a call from an AD last night telling her that they were having a pre-owned sale and there would be some watches that I would be interested in. So we went into day and they had 3 watches I was very interested in all Y series Sub Dates. I hemmed and hawed for a couple of hours wondering around the mall think what should I do? After the great wife pretty much ordering me to go and get it we did. He gave me a 10% discount off of the watch and even gave me a new inner and outer box with the Oyster and Sub pamphlets, and the watch pillow and leather like cloth that wraps the watch and pillow. These watches just got back from a Rolex service and have a 1 year waranty. The AD did not fill out the waranty paper in my name or the date which means I guess I got those infamous "open" waranties, but I doubt I will ever need it. The watch also came with a green travel bag/case and a rolex cloth.

Now for the bad. I am pretty disapointed in two things.

First when I got home I phoned the AD because I thought I left something there. I asked for my salesperson, she had left, and then the manager, he had left also. Then abruptly the guy who answered the phone told me "Hey we are pretty busy up here!" I hung up.

Second, I was home admiring my new beauty, and I noticed some kind of mark on the crystal about the size of a pin head, right by the hand attachment point. I hope, since this is a new purchase and had just been to the factory, coming back with a waranty they will take care of it for me.

All in all I am on cloud nine. This purchase has been long journey, but I am very proud to be an owner of this piece of technology and history.

First off, congratulations on the fine watch. Let's see some pictures. Second, they ( the dealer) should take of replacing the crystal. Lastly, I would mention to the manager about the quality of service form the sales person on the phone.

Congrats on the watch, let's see some pics, and you DEFINITELY need to speak with the manager tomorrow, or whenever you have a chance. That one guys statement to you about being busy is UNACEPTABLE, especially to a customer that just made a several thousand dollar purchase. The manager needs to know that occured and make sure the rude sales person gets an attitude adjustment!!!!!

Congratulations on the new watch! That is a great feeling and it is wonderful that you got to share that with a supportive wife!

I asked the AD at my area if they have any pre-owned for sale last week. They told me Rolex do not allow its AD to sell pre-owned. Now I'm confused. Do the ADs in US and Asia have 2 different business policies? Can anyone confirm this please? Thanks.

They are allowed to sell preowned. Your AD just didn't have any and wanted to confuse the issue so that you would buy a new on from him.
