AD delivery days, do you know yours?

I i was in a rather large AD last week and the young salesman told me that 2nd Monday of every month was the day their stock came in, I was surprised as the other AD I have bought from had never disclosed this info.

Why would a AD disclose that info to the public ? That would be a huge security risk .

The average salesperson doesn’t think this way. I’ve heard weekly delivery on Thursdays.

No kidding, that’s enough to get someone fired.

My local AD said they only get one delivery a month and "everybody knows" it's around the 15th. Said there is always a line up at the door at opening time on delivery day, all hoping to get a SS model, but they have no chance as they have already been allocated.

I was offered my Sub Date before it actually arrived at my AD from NY. So the rumor of ADs not knowing what they’re getting before the stock shows up is perhaps wrong.

I would believe there is zero consistency from country to country. And in the US market I’m pretty certain all dealers are not created equal. Larger ones most likely get bi-weekly deliveries, smaller ones probably once a month.
Years ago I used to hear US dealers were rated as A, B, C, and D with A being the largest. Recently my longtime SA (20+ years) mentioned it being a tiered system now with a monthly inventory target, a “standard stock” then the allocation models.

Yes. They still get rated Tier 1,2,3. And they access a portal (in North America they've set it up this way) to see what they "will" have incoming.

@OP:

It all depends on:
-Country/Regional Rolex HQ

In some countries they do weekly shipments. Some countries they do bi-monthly. And some other countries they do once a month. Also depends on the tier they're in as described above.

@Others:
What security risk? It's handled by armed guards or people in the profession (G4S, Securitas etc). If they get robbed there's an insurance to cover. If the watches make it to the shop and they get robbed, guess what...There's an insurance too.

This is the next level of obsession. :D

Debating that its not a security risk.. I suppose they're only security guards, who cares if they get jacked. They're insured, swap out the broken guards for shiny new ones!

If someone really wanted to stake out a shop and know the delivery times and take the opportunity to make their move, they would.

An AD will normally tell you they don't know when the next delivery will be, but they will tell you when their last one was. Depending on how well you know them, they can give you a rough estimate, when you should come into the store.

two or three years ago, my AD had fairly regular deliveries that usually showed up on a monday or tuesday. now he has told me that they get deliveries on almost any day of the week. fairly small sample size but i tend to trust my guy.

I don’t know what days are delivery days for my AD. If a delivery truck pulls in when I’m at the AD, I make a point to stick around though.

I have heard Thursday deliveries is typical. ADs never know what's in the box. How crazy is that.

That's correct. Owner/Manager of the shop is in for a surprise every week. Imagine it can be Christmas every week, just that the box contains few watches nowadays when they're on a weekly delivery and it can just be the boring lady datejusts
