Celebrating my wife’s 40th birthday today.

Opened this sparkling Shiraz. My last bottle from this superb small winery just outside of Adelaide.

One of two incomings today...
nothing particularly special with the Weller 107 or Blanton’s Gold, except for the exceptional whiskey inside... the other is a birth year (1984) Wild Turkey 101.

Sparkling Shiraz - now there's a wine style I haven't seen for decades. Remember this style was popular in the '70s - there was one called "Cold Duck". I used to have the occasional bottle as an alternative to Rose.
Happy birthday James's wife.

Hey Guys,
I’m contemplating going to James Suckling’s Great Wines of the World event in Miami later this month. Has anyone been, good idea? Bad idea?

Good work!

How did you like that Prima Pietra? I visited CDB a few years ago and have been holding onto two bottles of the 2014 since I was there. It was an amazing place and I’m having a hard time cracking them open... Might be time to go back :)

We dog sat for some friends while they were in Italy. They brought us back several bottles as a "thank you" gift.

Both bottles you see pictured were wonderful. I do not have any tasting notes in front of me, but I remember the Prima Pietra being silky with a killer finish.

Not a bad thank you gift!

From what I remember, it was a welcomed change from some of the things we were drinking out there. Im glad its drinking well, looking forward to opening it up soon!

Fragrant NZ Pinot Noir. Good with stinky blue cheese.

It's just all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconvenience we have to deal with.

2008 is the vintage for bubbles, and Cristal is stunning in this year. Have a magnum of rose and it will have to be a pretty special occasion to pop that sucker.

The 2009 is a real stunner too, more approachable than the 08 now.

I will politely disagree, 08 is it for me. Can't stop drinking the 08 Dom P. it is for real, whether you are drinking it now or in 20 years. JMHO

Not sure what you are asking? It's a great vintage and worthy of a special occasion, I'm just partial to 08 for Champs for recent vintage.
