Watches with Automatons

I was just browsing the sites of Prezuiso, and Anderson, and was really shocked at the gold-etched and cloisonne automatons that some of them have, such as the pornographic ones...What do you guys think?

I found them to be in incredibly poor taste, but that's just me, and I coulnt really understand the reason for them.

In horological tradition, these so-called 'pornographic' automatons are referred to as 'erotic'... and have been around for quite a while.

Some watchmakers do very little else, and command high prices for their work. Vintage pieces, more like antique pieces, are quite extraordinary. They serve to once again demonstrate micro mechanics entwining these little exhibition pieces with timekeeping.

In 1993, Blancpain produced of series of 'erotic' watches (known by some as 'bonking watches'), with artwork based on the 18th century French painter François Boucher. I believe each piece sold for around £90,000

Cheers
