Just bought my new Explorer II in Spain and I would like the instructions in English. Could someone PM me a scan of the double page where they explain how to set the hands?

I have an Explorer II but it’s at home, I also have the booklet, but you guessed it, it’s at home too…..but I will try to explain here..

Unscrew the crown, when it first becomes free of the threads it will manually wind the watch in one direction, it will do nothing in the other direction.

Pull out the crown to the next stop, one direction will advance the normal hour hand, the other direction will do the opposite……note when the hour hand passes 12 on alternative full revolutions the date will change, forward or backward depending which direction you turn the crown.

Pull the crown out to the final stop and the watch movement is stopped, this allows setting of all hands except the second hand, also the date can be set like this.

To set the watch for wearing first of all move the small hour hand as described above so that it reads the same time as the red 24 hour hand, i.e. if the red 24 hour hand is reading 14:00 set the small hour hand to 2 o’clock…..but be sure when you passed by 12 o’clock that the date didn’t change, if it did then advance it another full revolution (if the date changed as you passed by 12 then it's 2 a.m. not 2 in the afternoon).

Next wait until the second hand is at 12 o’clock and pull the crown out to the last position……set the time….don’t worry about the date….but remember to set it to a.m. or p.m., the easiest way is to use the 24 hour hand to set the time, then you know for sure where you are with regards to the date changing.

Once you have set the time and the watch is running, pull out the crown to the first position and move the small hour hand in either direction until the correct date is indicated.

That’s it, the watch is set……your small hour hand and your red 24 hour hand will show the same time, the small one using the normal 12 hour points, the large red one showing 24 hour time using the engraved bezel markings.

Now, if you want to track a second time zone, just move the small hour hand to that time zone…..for instance if you go on holiday (or work like me) to somewhere 4 hours ahead of your home time, move the small hour hand 4 hours forward……now your normal hour hand shows correct time where you are on holiday and your red 24 hour hand shows the time back at home! The beauty of this feature is that you do not have to stop the watch when you move time zones (it works the same with the GMT II models as well by the way).
