Is my Rolex real?

I bought a used (1st bought in 2019) Submariner Date from the German retailer Chronext two weeks ago. I did lots of research on them and they seem to be a genuine, honest dealer but not a Rolex AD.
I looked for some of the usual counterfeit deficits:
No ticking, sweeping second hand, smooth case back, 2.5x cyclops, quality of crown on winder, crown etched on crystal at 6oc.
9 hours after leaving the shop it stopped. So, I wound it again. This time it lasted 8 hours. Wound it again. It lasted 2 days before stopping.
Given that Rolex is the 'ultimate' timepiece, I brought it back to them. They sent it away and came back with the reply that they found a loose screw and it's OK now.
Have I just had incredibly bad luck? Is it possible for a Rolex to have a loose screw?
Should I give my watch to an AD to have it authenticated?

You probably weren't winding it enough. Give it 60+ full 360* turns of the crown to make sure it's full wound and then see how long it lasts. I suspect it will be fine. They probably just made up the loose screw explanation.

Welcome! Sorry you're having trouble with your watch, that must be real frustrating. Do you know where the seller sent your watch to be checked? Has it been returned to you yet? I can't comment on a loose screw, other than the occasional accusations hurled at me. sorry.

Anything with a screw can have said screw be loose. Regardless as others said, wind it a lot more, you can't overwind it. And wear it. You don't need to take it to an AD to have it checked although it's an option. Any competent independent watchmaker can take off the caseback and tell within 10 seconds. Make sure to get its water resistance tested again afterwards.

FYI,

An AD is not going to be terribly excited to "authenticate" a Rolex you bought from an independent dealer. Not much in it for the AD. Put yourself in their shoes.

^Agreed, that's why I recommend looking up a good independent near you, check out some reviews on yelp/and or google, they should do it for free, maybe charge a few bucks for pressure testing after taking the back off.

probably arent winding it enough? but chronext is legitimate seller so i would contact them and see if they have a warranty if in fact something is wrong with it's power reserve.

Chronext are huge, they will not be selling fakes unless maybe a trade in has just come in and they have sold it on without checking which is very unlikely. Far more likely it is just a watch issue which under warranty Rolex RSC will fix quickly and they can tell you if it is real or not then.

Sorry about your troubles.

Although Rolex makes a fine watch with outstanding precision and finishing. It is far from the ultimate watch.

Fully wound the watch 40 turns or so and track it. If it still stops, then take it in to RSC.

It can happen.
Watch should be under warranty but if non-authorised parties open the watch and they determine that, Rolex can void it.

I say....take the watch back and see how it works. You have the choice to return it, right?!
Also, ask the seller who open and checked “the loose screw”?

Anything mechanical can malfunction or break. You are fortunate it was just a loose screw. Rolex movements are workhorses that will last for decades but they do need servicing occasionally.

Chronext is a reputable online store with various locations.

Bought a watch from them. Not a rolex though. A GP.

So i doubt if they will deliberately sell a fake.

And no watch is perfect. Well, except for the *******.

If its authenticity you want guaranteed, best bet would be to ask an RSC to check.

AD's won't authenticate used watches for you. Their only job is to sell new watches.
