I am quite ok to not buy anything for the rest of the year. Frankly with all these uncertainties I am also not in the mood to spend. New watches can wait. I already have too many anyway.

I’m with you. Nothing exiting me at the moment. Just waiting to see what, or if, anything happens with the submariner lineup.

I cant help think that the well chosen words above have taken their toll on many here. The bubble over the last two years sometimes puts a real dent in my passion and enjoyment of this hobby. Its one of the reasons I rarely go into the Rolex pages anymore. You can feel the fever and hype. The PP pages are largely unaffected by this, although every now and then...

Gronfeld perhaps :)

I AM on the list for the 4500V Vacheron blue and I do play around with Grand Seiko quite a bit, but I end up going back to my core collection.
I actually prefer the white dialed Chronometre over the Bleu despite it being the forum favorite.

The split seconds FP Journe is very fun to play with.

Vacheron is always nice.

In the end, it's ok to take a break. :)

This watch is pure fire. Even better that the "market" hasn't identified it. One of those in RG is definitely in my future.

Having said that, being able to determine your core collection brings a lot of peace of mind to a crazy hobby that's gotten full of anxiety with all the social media "must" gets. I actually think many of the most hyped pieces are plain unattractive, so I just bite my tongue around all the waiting list threads.

That’s FANTASTIC.
What a great looking watch. Reminds me of the 5370p.
Congratulations.

Me too.....

I have been collecting for about 20 years and for the first time, I really feel content at least in terms of my modern watches that I wear all the time. To be honest the ones that I have don't get enough wrist time although all are worn in a rotation. I am just not ready to part with any.

Still always on the hunt for my vintage collection consisting of Omega and Hamilton.

Thanks! Indeed that's the Queen St W footbridge!

Completely agree with this. I'll confess to chasing after pieces because that's what I was told to like. It's always a constant chase after the next one and it gets tiring and stressful after a while, makes the hobby a liability instead of something to enjoy. The solution is to stick to what you like and go with what your gut tells you to do.

In the social media craze no one pays attention to a piece like the 1815 Chronograph, but I happened upon it, agonized about the factors that everyone seems to focus on (i.e. resale value), but kicked it all aside and went with my gut. I'm glad I did, and I enjoy it far more than any of the pieces I was told to like (e.g. 5167, Hulk, BLNR, etc.)

Thanks! The 5370P is out of my budget range so this will have to do! I've been surprised with how versatile this piece actually is, it can be dressed down or up. Before I bought it, I had almost convinced myself the dress watch was truly dead, but this one really revived my interest in strap watches.

After going from eight watches down to two, I am also very content with the state of my collection. I am somewhere on a list for a few Pateks, but I’m getting to the point where I may seriously just pass even if called. I’ve built up my watch fund but the longer it stays untapped, the more I think about other uses for the funds.

Interesting. I wonder how many others feel this way.

I am sensing fatigue across the board... This doesn't spell no good... I want out, now... But wait, I am already at three, and happy...

Looks like everyone is suffering from fatigue. Looks like the hyped brands are pissing off the collectors collectively.

It's normal. Haven't received a call from my AD for a while so if they do want to allocate me a piece they know who to call. If it happens, it happens. If not then okay.

Gorgeous, there actually is horological life beyond Rolex, AP, and PP.

State of contentment - is something wrong with me?!

I wouldn’t say content but rather disinterested relative to the past. Honestly I’ve felt this way since roughly 2017-2018

Ha, I kinda feel that way. Reminds me of an Only Fools and Horses episode when they are trying to make some quick money and are trying to think of a new invention but one of them says, everything's already been invented.

I am also down to 2 watches - 5960r and a Pam337. Liquidated my Rolexes. And so far, no plans on acquiring any.

I’ve got to say, I’ve also reached that point over the past couple of years. I’m actually looking to trim by a couple pieces with no plans to add. Pretty content with what I have and no interest in the things I don’t. Maybe this is contagious.
