Timex does really keep on ticking...metaphorically, it’s a quartz!
I had posted recently in the Rolex forum about my watch collection and mentioned I still had my first watch, a Timex World Time from the late 1970’s. I wasn’t into watches, didn’t wear it much and it ended up in a drawer most of the time. Once the original batteries died, I forgot about it. Fast forward 40 years.
Another member posted asking me if it still worked which made me curious if if did. Took the case back off and there was no corrosion thankfully as the original button batteries didn’t leak. I bought a new set and crazy, it came immediately to life and functions perfectly. Even the backlight still works. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to set the time since there are no instructions available anywhere. Hah Here it is. Anyone else ever resurrect a quartz watch from way back and had it work? I would have taken even money it wouldn’t have worked or some of the lcd display would have dead spots but it doesn’t.
