New York Horological Society courses
First let me say that these courses will not teach you to be a watchmaker, but rather to have much greater appreciation for the work that a skilled watchmaker does. They are held in New York City and several other worldwide locations, check their website. There are three courses, 101, 102 and 103 from which you can take only the first or the set of all three. You learn a great deal about the functioning of a watch, including disassembling and reassembling one, the tools used to work on it, and by the time you’re done when you look down at your wrist you’ll have a much greater appreciation for the complexity and beauty of what is there. I highly recommend it.
