Anyone taken cyclops off a GMT 2c
I am tempted. I like the look of the non cyclops Rolex divers, and from a practical standpoint it is very hard for me to see the date even with the cyclops.
I would appreciate opinions. Also, should I expect problems with the AR coating they use with the cyclops on the 2c. |

Don't do it, although I'd love to see one without just for a laugh

I have thought about that as well. But then again the thought of painting the bezel blue and red ran through at a fast pace as well… Actually it did not I just thought of that right now… I say leave it alone. But if you do end up doing it post a picture or two. Maybe a nice brand new razor blade slowly working around it would work? Yes I would expect problems with the coating. |

I certainly wouldn't try it myself. Razors = scratches!

Well, the cyclops on the IIC are much improved IMHO. With the anti-reflective coating, it's much better than my subs or gmt's.
I would not remove it from the IIC unless it's the cyclop that really bothers you. Anti-reflective coating should be standard feature on all rolexes.

Thank-you for your advice. If it weren't for my concern over the AR coating I would probably take it off. I am not a fan of cyclops, and as I said before I still have trouble reading the date even with it.
I am a huge fan of the GMT function and the way it is done on a Rolex so I am not interested in trading my 2c for another model. For now I will leave it. |

I considered ordering a replacement sapphire from Rolex and removing the cyclops from that one. Then i would still have the original to replace if i needed. That way the 'crown' would remain etched on the original, and the 'c' on the one without the cyclops.
I know it looks like a 'poor mans SD' but I didn't like the extra thickness to the SD's case for everyday wear...... (I own and wear a sub) |

I've always kinda liked the cyclops, hell, I'd probably like the SD better if it had one!

The cyclops is sooooooo Rolex, why take it off? It's part of the look and heritage of the brand. It would be like changing the color of the GMT hand to yellow because you don't like red (or green on the new ones). Sure, any watch can be customized, but much better to stay true to what Rolex intended for the watch, IMHO.
