Would a GMT Master ii 116710 case back fit a submariner 116610?
Hello all!
I’m in the process of considering my first major watch purchase and have narrowed it(I think) to three different Rolex models: OP39 black, submariner date(116610ln), and GMT Master ii(116710ln) My question is regarding the case backs of the sub and GMT. Does anyone know if the GMT case back would work on the sub? I prefer the lower profile of the GMT case back, but the sub wins in every other category. Any replies would be appreciated. If it is possible, does anyone know how/where to source a GMT case back? Thanks in advance! Looking forward to joining the Rolex owners club soon! |

They will screw on, but they are not the same, and you will not get what you want.
The GMT has the threads recessed deeper into the case back, which lowers the profile, not because it has a flatter back. The Sub does have a structurally thicker case back, but it is also seated farther away from the movement plane.
