Thoughts on Burlwood Daydates value?

What is everyones take on the exotic dials? I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on a Burlwood dial Day Date. I am wondering what the value will be like on these pieces in the future. I know they have been known to crack and warp.

I’m not being snarky when I say this, but if the future value will affect your decision on whether to buy a watch or not then you probably shouldn’t buy it.

Look at the world today. A month ago flippers and speculators would have snapped up any SS Sport Rolex but not so much now. My point is that nobody knows what the value of watches will be tomorrow. Again, trying to add some clarity not start an argument.

I'm a big fan of the wooden dials, I have a NOS sealed birch burl dial for a DateJust, looking for a good donor watch.

Yes they can crack and warp, but keeping the watch properly maintained is key, water resistance keeps moisture out which prevents this.

Not sure about the value of them though...

They’re cool. But a value proposition? Don’t think so. But if a fetish. Demand and supply will always be low

I won’t dive into the value pool as it is more frowned upon lately by the Mods.

But in general, the buyer pool is particularly shallow when one plans to sell an exotic model of anything compared to the the deep pool of buyers for the popular combination.

Like selling a funny colored Ferrari vs. OEM red.

I have a friend with a dark burl finished Day Date with the bark bracelet. I think it is a rather cool and unique combination.

In the real world watches like the Daydate no matter the dial will not be thought of as being collectable on gain value quite the opposite mostly.Myself buy always what I want to own and wear, and not because of some perceived future value.
