Does anybody have a pic of an OP 39mm next to Sub-C 40mm
So can compare size, height, thickness, etc.
It seems the actuallyn dial of the 39mm OP is actually larger than the 40k Sub-C; but the case if the Sub-C case is wider and thicker (although the height of the lug to lug measurement seems to be the same.) Hard as heck to compare the two without being able to try them on so any side by side coamparison pics would be great. Since the case back on the Sub-C sticks out more, it seems to sit up high on the wrist making the lugs possible "hang out" over the eadges of a 6.75 inch wrist. Any pics and though are appreciated. Thank. |

I don't have the pics you are looking for - but one thing I do know - the size of the dial is considerably smaller on the Sub. This is obvious, of course, but only if you stop to consider it!

The dial is larger on OP, but that is not an attribute that stands out. I would argue that the OP and Explorer 1 MK2 are the only close to perfect watches that Rolex has made in 10+ years. I can find a flaw (from my perspective) in every other model, including my beloved Sub. However the dial is much more subtle on the OP. The explorer is all dial. It becomes noticeable after a while. Not in pics as much, but 100% on the wrist. Huge turn off and I sold it for that reason amongst a few others. OP’s only issue is the “entry level” stigma which is just ridiculous for such a high quality watch. Other than that, it is literally the perfect GADA watch. |

Try on a Sub first before making any decisions.

What about the DIAL of the DD40-228238? Is it also bigger than the 116610 sub C?

Yes, the dial of the DD40 and DJ41 is similar in size to the OP39. The Sub, GMT and YM1 dials are similar in size to a 36mm DJ/DD/OP because the rotating bezels take up a lot of real estate.
This shows the dials, it’s not perfect but the YM is the same size as a Sub’s dial and the DJ is approximately the same size as a DD40. |

You’ll be happier with the OP39. It’s perfectly sized and feels fantastic on wrist. This is coming from a SubC owner with 7” to 7-1/4” wrist. The OP39 just feels effortless- the perfect daily driver so long as you don’t need the date. The SubC feels overbuilt in comparison, however iconic and versatile.
I’d be patient and go for the “white” dial OP39. |

The only thing I would add is know your style before you go all in on one watch, particularly like the OP 39mm. I have found mine to be a little too dressy for my style for every day wear. It looks great with a button up, jeans and nice shoes. It looks out of place on me when I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The thing is, I am more often in the latter than the former. I think the Sub would be the better all-round watch, as it rocks the casual look better than the OP and does fine with the semi-formal look. If you are a little more of a formal dresser (say dress shorts and a nice t-shirt/polo) as your casual wear, then the OP will be absolutely fine. |

Not my photo - found on insta when doing a little research of my own into a similar topic... The OP does have the larger dial but the domed bezel and thinner lugs compared to the ceramic bezel and super case of the sub means it looks smaller than the 1mm difference in diameter. |

I’d also add the white dial makes the OP appear larger YMMV |

Two very different watches. I like both but think the Submariner is special in a way that the OP is not. I also think that the Submariner is more versatile for the activities I participate in. A lot comes down to personal preference and a Rolex Diver is the best for me.

When looking at pictures, be sure to look at pictures that are taken from further back to get a better idea of the size difference.

Seek not the SubC
Opt for the OP Be happy The reason is the silliness trying to get a SubC vs OP. Amazingly, OP is just as accurate as the Sub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
