if Rolex Company produces 1 million watches a year.......

If Rolex Company produces 1 million watches each year, what's your best guess
as to the percentage per category?

For example, here are some categories:

Classic Stainless
Classic Precious Metal
Professional/Sport Stainless
Professional/Sport Precious Metal

Using the above categories do you believe production is roughly 25% each, or something very different from that?

Strange I was asking myself this today...

I was thinking (wild guess) 50 per cent datejusts.

No idea but doubt 50% of production is precious metal. Maybe 30-40?

My guess is 70% Classic watches, 30% Professional/Sport models.
AD display cases seem to have Rolex inventory at approximately the above ratio, right ?

Considering the range of sizes of DateJust models produced, your guess that DJ's comprise 50% of Rolex total production might be accurate.

there's so many variables it is impossible to guess

i think even the 1 million watches a year could be suspect. Could be 850k? 1,100k?

Only an insider would have any idea. However, if they were smart, they would only produce stainless steel models.

Yeh, because Rolex have no idea what they are doing...

I’d sooner believe that they have the optimum balance of production after all this time in business.

I think 800,000 was the number some time ago , if that is still the case with 6wks off shut down and staff returning slowly it could be as low as 650,000 units this year, that along with less people buying I don't see things changing very much

Only my 2 cents fwiw

800k-1mil makes sense based on their earnings reports. But don’t forget to factor in that women’s watches have to account for a significant portion of sales. Given how many different models and variations there are I’d bet for SS sports we’re talking 10-20k Daytonas, slightly more of everything else.

1 Cellini so far, when it sells they’ll make the 2nd one.

Yes, like most all wholesale businesses Rolex likely monitors recent sale trends and then accordingly produces inventory for the forthcoming year (s).

I would assume 80 % classic and 20 % professionals, regardless materials.

I had posted couple yrs back and IMO its right number from my AD/ friend. He mentioned 14k SS Daytonas ( black & white combined) are produced each year.

That makes my guess to be..
Daytona SS = 14k
SD43 = 25k
BLNR = 40K
Hulk = 50K
Submariner SS = 100K
Datejust SS = 200k
Rest of SS models =200K

Remaining models in few thousands and then rest of them of them Precious metals of again same above list like Subs, DJs, Daytonas etc.

This is very close to reality IMO.
