the photos you provided demonstrate the right way to make this type of thread :)
I have that exact 114200 in white dial but my wrist is 6.25" circumference. the color of the dial that kind of blends into the bracelet, the bracelet width to case ratio of 19/34 and your larger wrist make the rolex look like a bracelet which is sort of a feminine look. the santos looks great on you but it fits into exactly the same slot as your datejust, a business casual workday watch rather than a casual weekend watch. i suggest a tudor bb36 or bb58 |

Very seldom would I pick a Cartier over a Rolex but this is one of those times. I think the Cartier looks great and has an elegant wrist presence.

Santos.. just wondering why not the large size Santos? You obviously have the wrist to carry the large size and bonus date function too.

I like the Santos, however, I might get tired of a square watch fast. The White dial 39mm OP is my choice. It’s simplicity, is what I like.

Santos would be my choice too. Tried the large blue one on before the pandemic and that will be my next watch. Have you considered the 36mm Tudor Black Bay with blue dial? Would make a great watch for the purpose you stated and looks just at home on either the bracelet, leather or rubber.

This is my fav thread. I'm in a similar dilemma but I have yet to wear a square watch, so when the stores reopen, I hope to make the decision. Right now the Santos is in P1

Thanks again for the suggestions. BB36 blue / BB58 are exactly the kind of watches I was looking for, but unfortunately neither (nor the no-date sub) really works for me. I kind of drifted from there to OP and then to Santos. I think it's best to get the watch I really like, and then pair it with a more casual option - perhaps Panerai 512/547 (haven't tried one yet) or something new from Tudor. But that's a topic for another thread!
Jb1264: I think I got used to a square watch by wearing a G-Shock for the past few months (I never liked them, but then I saw 5600BB). That probably made Santos' shape less unfamiliar. Those two would make a great 2-watch collection. What a friendly forum, btw. Now I know where to get my fix of "watch talk" when I need it and have some time to spare. |

I love the Santos. So much so that I have the blue dial and am Picking this one up tomorrow. Just got call. There is just something about the Santos in all its forms. The quick change strap is just a bonus.

You’re going to love it. I got the blue Santos last year, and it is one of my favorites. Incredibly comfortable. It’s also nice having something different in the line up.

Lots more pics please. I’m really curious as to how it’d look on the leather. Torn between this and the full DLC. Prefer the dial on the two tone and I’d be less afraid of marking it. Also like the idea of the metal bracelet. But there is something about the full dlc. Also, seems more legible, which is important given my eyesight. I’ve heard negative feedback on the rubber, interested in your take

I own both exact same models. I find the OP is better for all-around and more so over the weekend. My OP gets more wrist time.
However, on you, I think the Santos looks better. Another considerations: Adjustable: quick adjust bracelet on the Santos. I carry an extra link at work for when I get hot. I had to scour and pay a lot to get an EasyLink added to my OP for same. Variety Also picked up the alligator strap to change out for variety. And the quick change strap system is absolutely fantastic and easy. Buying Used The 34mm and 36mm OP is safer to buy used. The 34mm size results in no knockoffs. Wrist Size Santos appears on pics more proportional to your wrist size and build. I know you did not like the batons but consider showing us pics of the 36mm OP. |
