Which is more formal dial on datejust?
I currently have a datejust 41 with white Roman dial on oyster. Although I know many would consider the oyster less formal, my question is specific to the dial. Would you consider white or black dials more formal, and specifically the white Roman dial vs a black or rhodium stick dial?

With a Roman dial it’s quite a bit more difficult to assess but I would stick with the white dial in this case... now, for a stick dial in the DJ, black with no doubt followed by the rhodium model (by the way, more a sought after model in DJs). My favorite though of this classic: DJ 41MM, rhodium dial with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. I’ve seen them all and never brought to my attention anything that wouldn’t be a Rolex steel sports model (exception: the modern Day-Date) until I saw the rhodium dial and the silver one, this last one in my opinion, makes the watch more outstanding with the fluted bezel: looks like a 1million $ watch not being it. I think most dials on a DJ are formal. I am most partial to the silver dial.

I think the white dial with Roman numerals is the most formal.

Both can be formal, but I chose the white roman with fluted bezel. Beautiful piece.
