California AD: Fourtane or Polacheck?

I want to start a relationship with an AD in order to get an SS Daytona down the road.
I plan on starting with buying a DJ.
Any advise or feedback from anyone on who best to start that relationship with?
I know they both have good reviews I"m just a bit concerned that the amount of VIPs in the Calabasas area (NBA, movie stars etc) will make my DJ purchase meaningless.

I have never purchased from Fourtane, however, when I visited their Carmel location they were very willing and happy to chat. Given this was when I was mulling over my first watch purchase ever.

I could not decide if I wanted to go the vintage route or purchase something new. Regardless of this indecisiveness the staff was took their time to show me different models and point out the differences. The whole experience was phenomenal, and while I did not end up purchasing with them, they have my vote.

Red roses and chocolates. Send us pictures from your first date. Good luck! My apologies, I thought you were asking for advice on how to start your relationship.

Passed through the Camel location once last year. Surprisingly nice selection, very professional and polished staff. However, I think you will find that the DJ does not put you on the Daytona list.

I’m afraid neither of them will tell me that upfront :-/

I dont know anything about Fourtane, but good luck at Polachecks. A friend of mine recently bought a DD from them and it didn't even move the needle. He was offered stuff like a WG Daytona OF, but nothing close to the hardest to get stuff.

Never been to either of those but in general...the “test” to get a Daytona varies from dealer to dealer and you’re not likely to get a straight answer until you gain some rapport with them.

You’re gonna be a small fish for a long time at either of those. Honestly unless you have 50k+ of other watches and jewelry you’re going to buy, call DavidSW.

Even with $50k spend, nothing is guaranteed.

Getting a Daytona is going to take a long time and a lot of $$$$ spent along the way. I know it sounds like insanity to buy from the secondary market. You will spend way more dollars and waste way more time waiting to get a Daytona from the AD. If the spending and the waiting appeals to you more than spending a premium with a re seller, and enjoying the watch now then start buying now. Depending on what market you are buying in, then spending $100 k at the AD will get you noticed but may still not lead to a Daytona.

I don't mind waiting a few years, I just don't want to waste my time.
I'd rather go grey than buy any piece I do not want.
I want to buy a DJ36 for my wife and a Daytona for me down the road. If that's not enough, that's fine, I'll go with a TRF trusted seller.
I just don't want to buy the DJ at an AD and then hear nothing from them.

Thank you for all the responses

California AD: Fourtane or Polacheck?

Bought both of these from Fourtane Boutique in San Diego. I was their first customer upon opening Dec 2018, buying DSSD JC that day.

Been on the top of their “normal” waitlist for white dial 116500 since their grand opening.

They are truly a terrific AD. SS Daytona is a very rare watch, so be patient.
