Possibly look for a sympathetic restoration by Michael Young or Rikki - sure it'd come back all lovely looking and keep as many of the original parts as is possible?
Do a search on the vintage forum, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of examples of their vintage restoration skills & testimonies here on TRF.
