ROW inscription on Rolex / Tudor movements - only for US ?!

Hi!

I am writing about the “ROW” writing on vintage Rolex / Tudor movements.

I know it is considered that this sign was added to movements exported to US.

The question is: was it added ONLY to watches going to US or is it also found on watches sold in other geographies?

I am asking the question because I have recently handled a Tudor Sub with ROW writing on its 2483 movement and original papers stating that the watch was sold in Switzerland. The was comes from a trusted source. Do you think it’s an impossible combination or has someone seen similar cases?

Many thanks to everyone!

It's an import mark yes. That was what I was told by the man who trained me who was a Certified Rolex Watchmaker.

I bought a 6202 Turn O Graph that was sold in Inghon North Korea in the Ship Store. The ROW was crossed out...I assume because it was not imported.

Glad to be wrong but that is my understanding.
