Please help,My Deepsea is spot on with the time,but yesterday I noticed that the date changes about 2 minutes late.Why is this?Can anyone help.Thanks

No worries, it does not have to happen right at midnight! I believe I read here that it is within Rolex tolerances until 5 minutes after midnight. Just be happy it's not changing at noon!

It's perfectly normal, my Submariner's date changes at 00:02:15 AM.

We are such watch dorks. My GMT-II changes at 00:01:13 AM. We know these things, but forget birthdays and anniversaries...

Absolutely normal both mine change two minutes after midnight. You can set it back two minutes after the date changes and the next day it will change two minutes after.

yea you should be okay, dont worry about it. If it gets worse then send it into RSC and they will fix it up perfectly

Don't worry about it; my DJ changes about 30 seconds early. My Tudor changes about three minutes early.

My usually changes at 00:02 - 00:04.

Rolex have very stringent tolerances with respect to date change. These amount to 1 minute before, and 2 minutes after.

You eagle eyed ones will spot that the date changes at pretty much the exact moment every day (allowing for the odd knock etc). This is because the time at which the date changes is a very simple setup.

It is calibrated by setting the hands on the watch at the exact moment the date changes.

When I service a watch, not only do I find this a very simple operation, but its just bad practise to pay less attention to this detail. It is one of the few steps in the operation of the watch you the wearer see's, and there is no excuse to not get it bang on.

That being said, you must make allowances, and 2 minutes is nothing to complain about.
The unacceptable delays I am talking about are date changes around 15-30 minutes. Any longer than that, and how can you call it an instantaneous change.

The process of changing the date takes 3 hours, according to a watchmaker I talked to.

He advised me to not change the time between 9 and 12 so as not to mess with it.

But yes, mine has never changed at EXACTLY midnight.

I appologies. When I say setting the hands at the exact moment the date changes, I mean me, as a watchmaker, re-setting the hands onto the posts, ie, after a service.

Not changing the time.
However, with modern Rolex cailbres, you can change the time at any time of the day without damaging the date mechanism. One of those perks from Rolex
