GOOGL beat as well. I'm very happy with the moves today.

Tailwinds pushing my other tech favorites up as well.

Talking Stocks 2.0

Yup 3/4 big tech blow estimates away, just need AAPL now to complete! Admittedly I did trim my cloud holdings today after their big moves. Still 80% invested though.

Tomorrow is looking like a good day for tech!

With the earnings and after hours movement we’re seeing today, I’m still baffled MSFT isn’t trading above 220 right now. Their earnings were stellar.

Me too as I added more today when it dropped sub 200. Some movement with general market in after hours, let’s see tomorrow.

Great day today, tech bulls. Should have even more good news next week.

PINS reports tomorrow as well.

Compare the article above with the big 4 tech earnings just now.

This is why I just cannot push myself into cyclicals yet (even if I mentioned the attractiveness of RTX / BA earlier today, which I did not move on). Tech bubble? Maybe, but where else to be? Still a place to make money.

Kind of a no-brainer buy for me. Look at what has happened to the stock after each split, including the last one in 2014. The lower stock price will open it up to a wider audience. Just gotta get in before Aug 24, so will wait for weakness until then.

I don't use their products, but that doesn't mean you can't value their stock.

Do you think there will be weakness till then considering how tech has been doing?

I do believe so - it can't just go up in a straight line. We could even see weakness tomorrow heading into the weekend, but it's really anyone's guess.

We're going to be at a high for now with the tech earnings, but after next week, there really won't be too much news to carry it once earnings are all over (unless Congress is able to get another stimulus done).

Either way, I do think there will be opportunity before the 23rd. Will it be a huge dip? Maybe not, but I think entry below today's number is a posibility, especially with the volatility in tech we've seen in recent weeks.

I also bought CLSK. :) Will have to see where that goes as well. Its the beginning of that run but I see a pullback on that. Not as much of a believer...

Still digesting reports, blowout from AAPL with a split, price targets raised all around. And still the second story I see this morning is how over valued AAPL is.

AMZN did well and will continue to do well.

Both of these positions I halved last week and I am still below my sell points. I may buy some back but will likely wait until after the split to buy more AAPL.

Interesting that we're on opposite sides on the fence on that one; I'm looking to buy pre-split. I anticipate that once it splits, the price could increase quicker as more retail investors will now be attracted to the lower price.

Valid points on both sides.

IMHO after a split there tend to be sales because of the false notion that people have more value and/or they feel they need to lighten up the percentage of a portfolio. Both are wrong but the psychology is there.

I prefer to wait and see where the price action takes us and on that note there are a lot of trading days before the record date of August 24.

Yes, definitely plenty of time before the 24th. Different strokes here, no wrong answer

I'm looking for entry below 390...had to adjust after the big beat.

I was glad to see the beat on CAT. If we are to get any kind of bounce in infrastructure, the industrials need to show life. Looking forward has been a research focus of mine, renewable energy and infrastructure are looking like areas of emphasis in the years to come as it would help solve some major world problems.

Not sure you are going to get that at least not in the next few days. Pre-market at 411, I have seen new price targets as high as 550

Yes, will have to adjust accordingly and continue to monitor - though we do have 3 weeks. I expect a lull once all these earnings are through at the end of next week.

PINS with the big earnings beat

Most of you know I bought right before Q1 thinking there would be COVID tailwinds...only to see it go down -20% after the Q1 release.

Well, looks like I was a quarter early because the tailwinds were in Q2. Big beat, glad I continued to buy the dip here. Unique user base, solid platform and decent management kept me in the game. Go PINS!

ABBV (core holding for me) with a mixed beat, stock up 2 in the pre-market. 4.9% yield at the current price, strong product pipeline, Humira is not the problem some believe.

I’m not into the cyclicals yet, either. We all use and rely on tech. Cloud computing and AI is at its infancy.

I’m sad about MSFT and GOOGL movement since earnings but long term outlook is fine. MSFT is slow and steady - been in it for years. I wish I had PINS. Too naive into thinking of it’s AI structure. Oh well lol

Disappointing earnings for GILD. Missed on revenue and top/bottom lines.

I may have to re-evaluate holding this as a trade, Remdesivir may have been priced in and unless there is a new drug added to the pipe as an annual vaccine there may not be anything here. I would exit with a profit after trading several times during the run up earlier. I would use the cash to add to tech.

I cannot get behind the pharmas building the vaccines. Too much uncertainty and I don't believe the profitability is there just yet; this is something that the entire world needs - price gouging will not be allowed for a long while.

Staying in tech for the time being.

What I always tout is the unique user base - it's not the number of clicks here (a la FB), but the time on site for users.

The majority of their users are women, and research indicates that women hold the money (not my statement - look it up ).

They are able to target ads based on the pins that people post and share, so the business model is solid and really untouchable. FB tried their hand at this and quickly left the market. This is why I have stayed in it; COVID just helped management along (that's why I only say decent and not excellent management - they could've done more even before going public).

I don't disagree and I may not have explained myself.

I now believe that with Remdesivir priced in, that the stock price is too high given their performance and the rest of their product pipe. I was interested in the company for that reason but bought at the wrong price. The stock deserves to be priced lower and I may look at it in the future if I sell it today.

More PINS story. Still a lot of growth opportunity here guys, especially for a platform with an established user base but low cost.

I should have taken a closer look at PINS but never did.

Emergent Biosolutions smashed expectations and significantly raised guidance.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/finance...202700265.html

I sold half of my Amazon before earnings and thankfully only trimmed Facebook a bit. Happy to see the price action there today. I was looking to add AMZN and Apple if they missed and sold off.

Thought Apple was priced for perfection myself, but may have to re-evaluate there too. Missed a lot of that run, but at least my money was allocated and growing elsewhere.

Very weak open, don't be fooled by the averages AAPL alone is adding about 150 to the DOW which is down -7

Some of these names may come back to buy points after the euphoria of earnings fades. Although earnings have been better overall, the broader market is weak and even companies with good earnings are not giving guidance.

I would not be surprised to see this market close negative today and possibly even broadly negative. News events suggest this will be a difficult weekend.

I am holding my cash for better entry points and not selling (yet) anything else although there are several names close to my limits.
