I think Rolex is smart in realizing that women like larger watches. I think it is patronizing in offering these DJ's with their flowery dials trying to feminize the watch. I personally think most women are going to prefer spending that much money on a more classic dial that will have a longer lasting appeal than these trendy looking watches.

But then again, as Rolex has proven time and again, never underestimate the bad taste of other people.

I do dislike the narrow-mindedness on this forum sometimes This isn't about undermining masculine appeal of the DJ, it's about offering more choice. Rolex is out there to make money, it's a business, and I certainly believe there is a market for women buying a 36mm watch, as well as men buying a 36mm watch. I'm all for it, and I think it's an attractive looking watch, and will look lovely on a lady's wrist.

There's no need to make it sound like the end of the world as we know it fellers, the 36mm Datejust will always be a beautiful masculine watch, but can also be feminised as well - no one is forcing you to buy the flower dial. And anyone who thinks a woman wearing a "man's" watch undermines their own needs to calm down and look at the bigger picture

So what if Rolex is trying to appeal to woman, they are smart for it. They are appealing to a high end market that will probably be very lucrative for them. (If and when we get out of this market.) Women who wear a lot of jewelry will pick one of these up like it’s another bracelet or pair of ear-rings.

Call me what you want but if I had the money I would ROCK the new diamond Daytona with the white croc band. I think it looks amazing! Don't give me it's a woman's model.

Mabe women don't see so good anymore and need a larger dial?

Of course, the clock on the stove works so that shouldn't be a problem.

You haven't agreed to this point. All you've said is the 36mm is now a woman's watch. Remember once upon a time a woman didn't wear pants. Just because women started wearing pants they didn't become exclusive to women; men still wear them in most parts of the world.

LOL. I could not agree more. Wide ties, super skinny ties, bell bottoms, messy hair, long hair on men. Just a few examples of trends or fads that do not stick because it just looks stupid.

Amen to that.

Yeah, as a matter of fact I do drive a Miata.

How about we look at it this way - Rolex are introducing these more effeminate combinations to turn the 36mm DJ into the new "midsize." In my experience, the current 31mm midsize is too much of a halfway house, too small for men, and perhaps women after a bigger size watch. It seems to be a shrewd business decision allowing more choice for everyone, why is that a bad thing?

You kidding? There's word going around that after you drive one of those for a while your wrists go limp and you develop a lisp.

Good Evening

Hi folks. New member here and thought I would give my 2 cents worth. My wife and I are both collectors, and don't own a watch we both can't wear, with one exception. She can't wear my Dweller(that pesky adjustment thing), so, she's wears her own sub date. No way would she wear that datejust, specially with that funky dial.......have a look.........David

I think women are more fascinated with a man's watch and that's why they love to wear it. Its the masculinity of it.

Increasing the size of a women's watch to 36mm isn't going to change that....

Some amazing comments on this thread. Narrow-minded? Misogynistic? Homophobic? Thank goodness countered by some very thoughtful, intelligent posts. Why the defensive stance - what's so threatening about offering feminine looking models in a 36mm watch? The issue is positively silly.

That said, and for what it's worth - I'd rather go for a more subtle/gender neutral look than the flowery designs Rolex unveiled. But then again, I never was one for fluff and frills.

I don't think anyone has a problem with a woman wearing a 36mm watch. In fact, she can wear a 50mm watch. That's not the point. The point is, it doesn't suddenly make a 36 mm watch "not" a man's watch anymore, as has been implied on a few posts. The classic Datejust and Day Date watches are still men's watches.

Uh oh. Now we'll have threads calling the DSSD a women's watch.

We need a 65mm!

That's a blatant lie.

You have to drive a La Tosseur to get those symptoms.

On topic- I agree that just because a woman wears a 36mm watch, doesn't make it a womens watch.

Rolex isn't going to discontinue the itty bitty 23mm? DateJust any time soon. That's a woman's watch.
