Watch gaining 10mins in a couple hours.
Hi All. I have a four year old Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust. Yesterday I noticed it gained about 10 minutes fast in a couple of hours. I guess its time for a service from Rolex? -Bob

Hi there, have you dropped it or shocked it badly?? Had the same problem with a brand new SD. Was perfect for a few months then dropped it and it gained 5 minutes a day from that point on!! Apparantly you can knock the hairspring out of line and it gains speed massively!!
Definitely a Rolex service issue. Hope this helps |

My guess is the watch has become magnetized.

Agree thats a possibility thats one of the signs of a magnetised watch speed up quite dramatically or come to a complete stop. But before you run off to the RSC just give it a full wind around 40 crown turns. Then test over then next few days if still gaining then yes get it looked at.

Perhaps the hairspring is caught which would reduce it's length and make it run fast...I had that happen to an old manual watch of mine once!
Watchmaker can fix it for about £10 here in uk. J |
