Omega watches are always available. Submariners are virtually impossible to get. LOL.

Not really. You could have one on your wrist tomorrow if you paid market rate.

I would hate for the sub to go to 41mm.

Compare the current ceramic to a pre-ceramic. There’s a relatively small difference in the dimensions (1 to 2mm) but they are greatly different to wear.

Exactly and the no date sub will look even bigger at 41mm

Slim the lugs down (more like the 5 digit subs or the SD43) and it won’t seem bigger, in fact it might appear smaller given how blocky the case is now. Look at a current Sub and SD43 side by side in person.

Retrofitting used to be a concern to Rolex years ago and new model parts never seem to fit on the older models. Made you have to buy a new watch if you wanted the upgrade. How much that is a concern today, I don't know with all the bracelet swapping we see. Any size change on the case makes swapping out anything on the old model hard.

This. With the massive lugs/crown guards the current sub wears almost exactly the same as a 42mm speedmaster.

If they fix the case it will probably wear smaller than the current 40mm sub.

Quite right and precisely my point.. the slimmed down lugs will give the appearance of being smaller. Increasing the size by 1mm offsets the slimmer lugs and the result may be a watch which looks basically the same size as the current reference.
