If it really is a new Kermit...

...what do you think happens to the popularity / value of
the original 2003 - 2010 Kermits?

The 16610LV follow it's own price curve and the prices are increasing every month. If a 126610LV is released, the original will increase even more - as originals are just that; originals.

Agreed... but history will judge the Submariner Supercase as a design misstep that was corrected with the next generation to bring it back to its pre-Supercase allure.

We are a small portion of people that want to have a rolex. The majority just want an oyster case watch so they can stroll down 5th Avenue and have the rolex on their wrist. Those majority dont care if it's super, maxi, slim, original or any case name we can think of.

I stroll down 5th ave with a Rolex on my wrist

And I care what it looks like ... I can’t stand the thick lugs of the sub

Totally agree. Hate the maxi case, imho a huge misstep. But it proved popular, so I guess not a mistake for Rolex. Ballsy move. One that made me want pre-maxi case version even more... but seeing the prices of vintage... went towards the DJ. Keeping my 16600 and loving the shape whenever I wear it... hopefully they don’t release a dumb version of the SD again... when it went TT I seriously thought Rolex lost it lol..
Someone predicted the release of a no date SD... LOL.
What next.. a SD with a cyclops?.... oh wait ...

Seems like Rolex is too afraid to innovate and mix and match the models now... People want Rolex to release more colours yet they are reluctant, that’s why I have difficulty in understanding why the yacht master Is disliked... it just looks like a sub With fancier dial options. Just the bezel difference makes it a YM?

I stroll down it too but of the majority of rolex owners I've ever interacted with in the wild the usually seem to be far less educated in the intricacies of rolex design. They just got the watch because it was a rolex.

The new watch is part supercase and part 5 digit in size...then they will make the bracelet 21mm so they are not interchangeable and they can sell a lot more...

It's crazy how it's gone so far. I think it will increase because it will get some new attention and put it back on the radar for those not necessarily looking for it. Just my .02.

If it really is a new Kermit...

I’d say it’s a Kermit but may his fat sister.

Or Constantine https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Constantine

Kermits doppelgänger.

Constantine is the world's "Number One" criminal and a doppelgänger of Kermit the Frog. He is the main antagonist in the film Muppets Most Wanted, along with his sidekick Dominic Badguy (aka "Number Two"). Constantine sets out to steal the Crown Jewels of England. However, mayhem ensues when he gets entangled with the Muppet troupe on their European tour.

He is almost identical to Kermit aside from a few details. His pupils are shaped like Kermit's, but are slanted in toward each other at a sharper angle. Kermit's signature 11-point collar is duplicated, but Constantine's is notably shorter. The most distinguishable difference is a beauty mark on Constantine's face.

It's been part of the rotation for the past decade, but I'm thinking of paring down the collection, so valuation is definitely a little on my mind.

BTW, thanks for all the feedback so far everyone!

Kermits are already on fire and have been for 3 years. This will just pour more gasoline on it. I am really hoping that new case in the photos is the real deal. LOVE it!

Guess I’m in the small minority here on TRF, but I appreciate the super case design of the current Submariner.

IMHO, most SS professional Rolex increase in value as the years go by.

I’m sure there will be a market for all these ugly Super case Rolex if they decide to go back to a more slender lug profile

IMHO.. I for one think differently.. I think the original Kermit price will drop simply because now for those who can’t get a original Kermit can always buy a brand new one with improved movement n MUCH lower price if they buy at retail. I certainly would buy the new Kermit than to pay premium on a used n outdated movement.
