Rolex haven't made any mistakes.

Repeat after me:

"I just would have preferred that did they did something different".

Apart from coming over as a child having a tantrum, the whole "Rolex ruined X" thing is tiresome and insulting to everyone who might actually appreciate the new products.

The OP line has been obliterated to be fair.

In the Internet age, one must always feel outrageously wronged or personally slighted.

Indeed

Classy to trashy.

All they had to do was give it the new movement and easylink.

They still have plenty of classic colorways. This isn't the first time Rolex has been colorful or playful. Not every watch needs to be plain.

It’s a nice throwback to the old stella day dates, not my cup of tea but cool in their own way.

Cheers!

i keep reading article review that the new dimensions make the watch more balanced, slightly more elegant and feels a bit more compact on the wrist despite the increased diameter.
Probably too early to draw conclusion that Rolex ruined everything.

i remember when i was just starting to learn about Rolex, years back.
everyone was trashing the YM and the Air King.

and now, amidst the artificial shortage?
"it's starting to grow on me."
"future classic."

if there's one thing that's constant, it's that we fan(boi)s here will eventually warm up to anything that Rolex releases.

Rolex, like just about every other time there have been new product releases or updates, have hit the nail on the head.

True. If a Rolex is an instant hit, it stays a hit. If it's a flop" that just means future cult classic

"Rolex haven't made any mistakes"

You mean this week? Well time will tell. I think putting 2 batons on the larger OPs when they were usually criticised on the old 36mm could be one. Also the white dial was a very popular colour, so why drop it?

Do they make many mistakes? No.

If you mean ever? Then there is lots of evidence of u-turns and backtracking. Explorer short minute hand, white gold only pepsi, fat lugs, SD4k, ad nausium.

Rolex like your blind faith, but I try to be more objective. They make great watches, for a bit too high a price, and make them difficult to get. Good luck to them.

It goes both ways. Tired of the guys that have nothing but rose colored goggles on and think Rolex can do no wrong.

There are always 2 sides to each argument. I would think there are more guys in the rose colored goggles around here.

Well, I think I like the new Sub; end of the bulky Maxi-case has to be good news.

I realise that Rolex have made watches which they have revised for various critical and commercial reasons in the past.
But I also remember that there was a Sea-Dweller that fared so poorly that it was cancelled after two years before becoming a much-loved piece in these parts.

I do not have "blind faith". Rolex makes many watches I don't care for (I personally find the Sky-Dweller incoherent and adding the oysterflex has, if anything, made matters worse).

But it's possible to express an opinion without whining like the company has been taking over by idiots because a watch you haven't even seen has changed one dimension by a millimetre or because some colourways have been added to appeal to a more diverse market.

Many people have been requesting the exact changes which have been made to the Sub' for a decade. Maybe Rolex listened. Maybe they didn't. Either way, lots of people will be very pleased.

I think this is a good call... Anything that's a but quirky when new will find a strong following when it's no longer available!

Man, I don't know about your area, but where I live you can buy YMII and Air Kings by the dozen with discount.

Actually there's one. Profits, success, brand stability. Gaining or losing a small percentage around the margins is normal.

Past that. everyone is entitled to an opinion. It won't make any difference, past continuing to generate Rolex noise, which is never a bad thing for Rolex.

I like the new subs better. And so will most others eventually. Right in the middle between 5 digit and six. Albeit slightly bigger but I don’t think it’ll wear this way I believe it will wear smaller than the previous 6 digit model.

Will be interesting to see what people make of it as the sky dweller is often referred to as a “dinner plate”, now it practically the same size.

I love the new Sub - they’ve nailed it.

It’s never going to get a wild makeover - it’s timeless and will always have ‘slight’ adjustments.

The next one in 10 years may go down to a 40mm with the now, current slimmer lugs.

Love it.

They did

They launched all the new imagery and assets for the TT blue dial sub with a SS crown.

Now since updated.

Generally people over the age of 40 years old don’t get upset when other adults disagree with them or have a different opinion. It’s confusing to me why so many on this forum don’t follow that line of thinking. A couple years back when the new Pepsi came out I was thrilled and absolutely in love with it yet there were many here that hated it. It didn’t bother me in the slightest that many hated it. Not everyone is the same. I remember in the 1990s the word of the decade was “tolerance”. Now it seems people are tolerant of of others so long as they agree with them on everything.

Just practice what you preach - let people have their opinions

I learnt as I got older, there is very little point trying to directly get people to change their opinions. It takes a vast amount of energy. So I just let people do or say whatever they want.

If they articulate or make useful points then I will listen. Otherwise it’s background noise.

They brought out the White dial OP 39mm a year or two after the initial release
