Will original Kermit values rise even further now?

Will original Kermit values rise even further now due to renewed interest? Or crumble as some prefer the maxi case.

Actually...not sure if it ends up changing them aside from maybe a 500 buck hike, they are already pretty high and now that's not the only way you get that color set. Also, older 90s pepsi pieces didn't all pop up at all with the new pepsi...so will be interesting to see.

The new "Cermit" no longer has a super case, it's been through a diet. As for the old Kermit, I'm sure it'll keep its value, it's the 50th Anniversary.

Still looks much larger than the 5 digit references. When I saw the HODINKEE picture of the 116610 and 126610 next to each other there is not much of a difference in appearance. On the wrist is different.

Just saw a Kermit listed for 15k from a trusted seller. Will be interested to watch that.

You cant beat the original version of any watch, the 16610lv was the first Rolex model to ever come out with the iconic green bezel, these watches will always be the most sort after of the green bezel models being the 50th anniversary models.

Going one step further the "FLAT 4" 16610lv's being the true 50th anniversary models will continue to appreciate as more and more people turn their attention to the new 126610lv which will renew interest and hype in the one and only original 16610lv models.

Watch collectors and enthusiasts will now want to own both the 16610lv and the 126610lv driving prices of the 16610lv even higher.

I agree, the remake is never as good as the original.

15k seems a good price, would estimate it'll go up 1-1.5k for now, replacing the Hulk's place there. Hulk goes to 18-20k maybe.

Less unique than they were yesterday. I think the value will drop, not a lot but at least a little. Think about it, they're not rare and they're not vintage. The original Kermit is now two iterations older than Cermit, and the Cermit fixed a lot of what some folks (me) didn't like about the now-discontinued Sub/Hulk: the wide lugs and the green dial. Plus, the Cermit has what a lot of people do like about the Kermit, the green bezel and the black dial. I think relatively few people care about it being the anniversary sub, and don't think collectors alone can keep the price as high as it is (it's value was already trending down).

Now, I say all this selfishly and with bias. I've always wanted a Kermit but can't bring myself to spend 14-15k for what was a 6k watch just over a decade ago. If/when the price drops I won't feel so bad about it. That being said, if I have the opportunity to buy a Cermit from my AD, I won't think twice.

Rising tide floats all boats.

Especially the olive bezel renditions, which aren't available in the Cermit.

Trending down? Haven’t noticed that...

I havent noticed the trend going down either, if anything its been steadily rising especially for the 2003 and 2004 model "Flat 4" versions of the 16610lv.

The Kermit will stay steady on price increase. It will not be affected by the "Kermit II"

Why:
1. Maxi Dial in Old case (Old school cool)
2. Non Super case
3. 40mm OG size case
4. Fat hands

Kermit II
1. Just a Hulk with Black dial..
2. 41mm case will be hit or miss (we are going towards Breitling territory..)

Opinion only

The original Kermits have nothing to worry about. Too much going for it. Not only is it the Anniversary Sub but it's a now longer discontinued 5 dgt Sub and the only 5 dgt Sub with a green bezel and a maxi dial. A forever desired classic.

Ive been sitting on a nos Z series 16610LV since 2007, I bought 2 at the time..
I would love to trade it at some point for a oysterflex daytona, any thoughts on how much longer I should sit on it?

The Hulk is already 18-20k lmao. 23-25k for new 2020 one, based on chrono24.

probably keep increasing at it's current pace, not likely faster nor slower because of the Cermit.

Yep. The case is fixed but ceramic green still leaves a lot to be desired.
