Rolex DD40 thoughts

Hi all,

I’ve been thinking about the DD40 228206 platinum with ice blue diamond dial. What is retail for this piece? Any owners care to share pics and thoughts on his piece. Thanks!

I don’t know the price. Look it up on Chrono24. It’s a beautiful piece.

Whops. I think Diamond Dial is more..by a few thousand, but not much more. I can't remember but I think it's about $2.5k more - that sticks out in my mind

Amazing piece. DD40 is my next watch and was originally looking at the gold. I tried the Platinum on recently and it’s incredible. The blue dial looks amazing (pops beautifully with the platinum) and the weight of the watch was out of this world.

For me it’s the ‘boss’ watch.

It must be 36mm otherwise I would worry about the authenticity.

I bought my 228206 with "diagonal motif" dial (no diamonds) preowned in January of this year. It's very heavy, so I keep the bracelet slightly loose. I really like this watch. The dial is spectacular. If you buy preowned, I think price will be somewhere in the $42K-$48K range (USD) for a full set, but that's without the diamonds that you want.

You'll have better luck than I did if you're buying a brand new 228206. Mine was one of the first pieces made with this 3255 movement (warranty card dated mid-2015), and the day/date didn't change close enough to midnight. It changed too late. It is now at RSC for the 3rd time since January. They can't seem to fix the issue. They just told me the other day that they want to replace the whole movement, which is totally fine with me (since the watch is still under warranty) but will take another 12 weeks. It'll be worth it in the end, though.

Here's a pic of it on my small 6" wrist (the watch is too big for me, but most watches are -- fine w/me).

Beautiful watch.
Does anyone know why they don't put the price on the website? is it a question of "if you have to ask then you can't afford it"?

Why cant they fix the date change? Its a well known issue on the 3255 early models 2015, 2016 and probably some early 2017s that the DD40 movement has late date change issues.

I had the exact same problem with my RG DD40 and Sydney RSC fixed it first time and its been running flawlessly for 3+ years now with the date changing around 00:05. It used to change at like 1:30am or 2am!!!!!

Many ppl have had this issue just search and all the information you need will come up

This exact watch is on my list with my AD trying to get one for me. No diamonds please - I just love the batons and especially the criss-cross dial - that just puts the nail in the diamond coffin.

I found that the Daytona felt a lot smaller on my wrist than the dd40. I ended up selling both my ss Daytona’s (I should have kept them with their run up in price!) the dd40 is a perfect size for me.

How far after midnight did it change? You would've thought they would have simply realigned the hours and minute hands closer to the date change on the mechanism?
The DD 40 loooks to big on you. I know, because I have a dj41 and same wrist size and I'm thinking of going to 36 mm instead. Classy and spot on size wise.
Agree with you, most brands make their watches too big nowadays.
