Looking for assistance identifying an old Rolex wristwatch
Hi everyone,
I was recently offered this Rolex-signed wristwatch and would appreciate assistance in identifying the reference and estimated age. Attached are a few images I received from its current owner. (I apologize in advance for the image quality; this is what I received.) The dial is signed 'Rolex' with the crown logo. The external case-back shows two numbers: 615360 and 762. I searched for both these numbers online and got no Rolex-related hits. I was told the case is 14k gold. I do not know the watch's dimensions, nor have I seen images of the movement. Note that the attached close-up of the dial shows what seems to be a line of text under the word 'Rolex,' which may have been erased... I'm not sure. In any case, whatever information anyone here can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

I am waiting on additional images (of the case, movement and inside case-back) from the seller and will post them here as soon as I have them. In the meantime, may I ask why/how you believe that the dial isn't original? Thanks again, David |

It just looks rough and repainted. What's that word that was partially painted over or scrubbed off under ROLEX? Probably gold capped or filled, not solid..

I don't know what is the word under 'Rolex.' I can't read it either in the photos I received, which is why I'm waiting for better images from the seller. I agree with you re the gold case. I asked the seller to look for gold hallmarks and let me know what he finds. If there are none, the watch is definitely not gold -- and definitely not a Rolex. I'll post any additional information I get as soon as I receive it. |
