1. No discussion of fakes in the forum per forum rules.

2. I would be very surprised to see a fake Skydweller with working annual calendar and functional bezel that is correctly integrated with the movement. If you can set it correctly it is likely not fake.

the weight is a dead giveaway. but shoot i didn't realize that was a forum rule.
i mean it (the whole fake watch industry) is a huge downer regardless but we definitely have to be diligent.
isn't there a scam sub-forum this can be discussed on ?

I doubt if I a fake sky dweller would correctly be able to work as an annual calendar.

I've seen a YT video on a convincing SS Sky Dweller fake with fully working functions. Can't remember who the presenter was, although it wasn't one of those mouth pieces who just sit and talk to camera. Probably Watchfinder, Watch Box, or someone like that.

I wouldnt say that, there is a lot steel in the watch and the small amount of gold in the 2-tone versions wouldnt be a "dead giveaway"

None of the videos I saw had a working ring-command bezel or annual calendar. Strongly doubt fakers would invest the time and money to replicate those, it just doesn’t make economic sense.

Yeah. That's what I thought.

IIRC it was not a cheap fake. It cost considerable money and was bought (allegedly) by people who knew what they were getting and were happy to pay a grand or two for a good fake which still cost many thousands less than the real thing.

The presenter posed the question: putting ethics and legalities aside, was buying a good quality, fully functional fake a viable option for someone who couldn't/wouldn't pay the entry price and had no qualms about ripping Rolex off?

It was a SS Blue Sky Dweller fake (shown alongside the real thing). I seriously doubt that there are convincing fakes for PM Sky Dwellers. But I don't know it..

no chance the ring command works (i dont mean just turns but actually functions)

plus the weight of a solid gold piece

good point. makes me think of my old Breitling which was a tank of it's own in full steel

There are NO good fake SkyDs around period. They cant replicate the complications so your good just test the watch make sure it works as intended.

Plus if its gold there is NO faking the weight - you will know within 1 second of holding it. The SkyD is one of the heaviest watches Rolex makes in terms of weight especially in gold.

Would agree with all of that. Very very unlikely all the features can be replicated.

If you really wanted to be sure, measure the thickness of the watch with plastic calipers and weigh the watch after checking the features.

Should be nice to know this is the only watch in Rolex’s lineup that you can do this.
