Warranty without the card?
If you have a watch that’s a year old but don’t have the warranty card, is it tough luck? Seems odd from a consumer law perspective that they can deny fixing a fault just because you don’t have the piece of plastic. Surely they have a register of the serial when the warranty is validated on purchase? Heck when I called called the service center in London regarding my vintage Tudor sub they could look up the service history although they couldn’t send me a copy.
So what’s the deal? Would they help? Has anyone had experience of a warranty claim without the card? |

This is a state law question. There are states in the US where you don't need to "register" after purchase in order to have a valid warranty claim. Question is whether having the card is considered "registering" or something else.

As long as the watch was bought from an AD at some point and the card was swiped, you do not need to card to make a warranty claim. Not sure why you think it’s needed. It’s not.

I thought it said on Rolex page that in order to have a warranty claim you must present the watch and the card or else it’s not Valid.

This is an FAQ on Rolex.com
People also ask: “What does the Rolex guarantee consist of?” / “How long is the Rolex warranty?” / “Is the Rolex guarantee international?” Rolex guarantees the proper functioning of its watches for a period of five years from the date of purchase. The Rolex guarantee excludes normal wear-and-tear (notably the wear-and-tear of non-metal bracelets and straps), loss, theft, or damage due to misuse. The substitution of components with, or the addition of, components or accessories not manufactured by Rolex will invalidate the guarantee. The guarantee is valid only if (1) the watch has been sold by an Official Rolex Retailer; (2) the guarantee card has been completed in full by the Official Rolex Retailer at the time of purchase; and (3) the guarantee card is presented with the watch, either to an Official Rolex Retailer or to an Official Rolex Service Centre. Any work carried out by third parties will render the guarantee null and void. |

A while back RSC told me specifically the warranty card is needed for warranty if an original receipt from the AD is not able to be produced.

No card, no service is what Rolex says publicly. If you have lost the card you may be able go through the selling AD for RSC service. However, I had a warranty issue a few weeks out from the purchase and went through the AD and I was told I had to provide the original card back to the AD to be sent in along with the watch for the service. I am not unaware of RSC accepting an AD receipt in lieu of the card for warranty work.

I’ve had a Rolex and a Tudor serviced under warranty and both times the physical card was required. If you lose it and you are original purchaser I believe your AD can request from Rolex/ Tudor a replacement card. If you bought pre-owned you may be SOL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I was in Dallas and took my mom’s watch in for service. We didn’t have the card but they called the AD and got verification we purchased and were original owners etc. They ended up taking the watch in for warranty service (it was still very new).

Another case of needing the card from me. Sent in a DJ41 for warranty work a month after purchase (running slow). They (AD) required me to ship the watch along with the warranty card.

In the UK if you have misplaced (or otherwise do not have) the warranty card, so long as you have proof of purchase you are entitled to the warranty provisions. That is provided for by statute, this isn’t an AD or Brand policy.
If you have neither proof of purchase or the warranty card, your statutory rights are difficult to enforce. P.S. By ‘proof of purchase’ it is implied that the purchase was via an authorised channel, and that the product was new. A receipt from a reseller is not evidence of a valid manufacturer’s warranty. |

Interestingly just called St James London and they didn’t care about the card. Happy to take the watch.
