Tudor 9411 Bubbling Dial

Hi all,

There is Antiquorum auction of a 9411 suppose to be NOS but I see that there is a lot of bubbling on the dial (see link below). I hear that 7021/16 normally have these issues but not the 9411s. Most 9411 on market dont seem to have this because it was supposed to be fixed already?

Also if it is NOS, how come there is bubbling? I thought bubbling maybe due to water damage or similar...but if this was not worn...

I would agree that most 9411 should not have bubble dial. However based on case serial number 700k and this could not very early batch of 9411. I am not surprised that it has bubble dial.

The bubble dial is very common for 7016 (less on 7021) and it is easy way to tell that the dial is correct if it is bubbling.

I have owned NOS Snowflake dials in a big lot with other NOS Tudor dials (and some of you know the big lot of dials I had this year) that have bubbled just like this. I realize some people don't like them but sometimes they look great. They sure look better than a spiderweb 5513.

These bubbled dials are a bit like suede as opposed to leather. Personally I don't enjoy a suede shoe, although I understand some people do.

It's a little misleading of Antiquorum to describe it as "extremely rare." Alright, it may (or may not) be NOS and have B&P, but you can find these in excellent condition all day if you have the funds.

But then, if you're in the market for one of these, you know that already.

They actually have two lots. Lot 492 and 493 both in the same NOS condition with the dial degradation. Such a rarity to see sought after references come up for auction in NOS condition.

Thanks all for the helpful info so basically even without touching the watch, the dials will bubble all the same.. like the early 9411s, which probably have same dial as the 7021s.

Dont know whether the bubbling is nice or not! Generally are prices for this higher than non bubble dials?

It is very subjective and personal taste. But one thing quite certain is that if you have bubbling dial on early snowflake and you will know it is genuine and period correct.

Personally I am no problem at all with bubble dial :)

I personally like the bubble/rot on the dial look but I wouldn’t pay a premium for it.

Again on topic of dial, I hear that a lot of these 9411 dials, the lume also quite easy to fall off and shattered, especially when take to service.

People find that this is the case? E.g. bump the watch by mistake and some lume fall off easily?

Most vintage lume are fragile. However I own few snowflake including Reference 94xxx and don’t encounter this issue. I am sure many snowflake collector over here will advise you not to worry too much. Tudor sub are more robust than we think :)
