1018 Bezel - what will fit?
Looking for a replacement bezel for my 1018, and assume that maybe the same bezel was used on other 36mm Rolex models around that time (60s-70s or later maybe)?
Maybe there are others that will fit, but not be identical in terms of profile etc? I'd like to determine which other models' bezels would "fit" properly, and provide the correct crystal seal etc, and see what is different appearance wise and what I could live with. Hard it seems to find parts specifically for the 1018, so I hope there is something else that has a bezel that would fit. Mine is in pretty good shape, but considering a refinish at some point and I think replacement may be a good option so wanted to start looking. Thanks for any direction on the subject. |

Well I would judge a lot of that by the crystal.
it's a tropic 21. I think the closest will be a 6424 hand wind oyster. Hand wind Daytona bezels might be an option as they are using topic 21 as well. The complete list of watches using 21 are: 1018 5504 5505 6238 6239 6240 6241 6262 6263 6264 6265 6424 6425 6598 6599 6614 7957 6298 EARLY EXPLORER 6299 "" I'd probably seek a known 20mm lug watch just because. There's a couple of guys with case backs on ebay. Message them. Ask if they have a bezel? I've bought lots of parts that way. |

I've been keen to start hunting for a 1018. But this thread brings up some things to consider. I currently have a 6694 and have not yet had to consider the availability of parts. My other piece is a 14060M, so overall, I have no experience with parts sourcing for older vintages. Is it generally difficult to source parts for the 1018? How bad is it?

Parts...it will be a long time before they are a problem. They may not be cheap..but they're around. |
