Omega Speedmaster new or used?
I'd like to purchase a moonwatch, not sure if I should buy it new from an AD, or purchase brand new through a grey.
Do omega warranty cards have your name recording in them? Is the "newness" worth the retail price? Or should I just save some $$$ and buy it new from a grey? |

Search the internet and you can find one 20% below retail from a reputable online supplier. There is one (sapphire) being offered on TRF which is about 15% below retail.
No idea about the warranty card. Not sure it matters really. PM me if you need an online resource. I just purchased one this past week. |

For a new one, phone up Erik Szper at Radcliffe in Maryland. Rob Caplan at Topper's in Los Angeles will usually offer a deal, too, but I like dealing with Eric. For a new or slightly used from a trusted seller, I would talk to DavidSW and to Matt at Watch Exchange Co.
For any of these options, your looking at ~$4.2 to $4.5 for a brand-new Speedmaster Pro with a plastic crystal on a bracelet with a valid warranty card, and that's what I recommend you purchase. |

See what an AD will discount and cross reference it with one of our Trusted Sellers. I would not buy the watch for less than a 15% discount but 20% is obtainable.

I bought my 2018 model from a trusted seller here, paid $3500 full box set (ex for the tool), had a dated warranty card, no name on it.

Used is the way to go. It's not a glamorous type of watch. Very tooly watch. So a few tiny dings or whatever are well worth it to save $1,000+ on the price.

I don't like to buy used when I have the option to buy new, but from your options both are new so I'd go grey with all cards and a discount in that case.

As a side note, the above posts only reflect the USA market. In Europe the situation is very different. Discounts are becoming slimmer, grey dealers are selling at a 10% discount at best.

Bought my speedy last year for £3.3k new after some haggling, ironically the store a few doors down was selling a used one with the older pin bracelet for £2.85k so I feel I definitely made the right choice. True there are cheaper ones out there but there are also risks involved but do what you are comfortable doing. Watch prices are nuts at the moment and the gap between new and old Is getting closer and closer (unless your selling/trading!)
