Friends 5513

Hi guys, i have been offered my Friends 5513 from 1972. He bought it from new, he is a diving instructor and has taken it all over the world.

We are trying to agree on a fair price?

The experts here can advise on condition and authenticity, but for valuations you should look elsewhere.....have a look at chrono24.

The bezel seems recently replaced or maybe aftermarket. Got a pic of the bracelet ? Post pics of the back of the watch. Look at Hqmilton’s website. He has a few 5513s. Yours is at the lower to mid range of value as it’s from the early 70s. Le cadran est vraiment belle.

Beside the insert is incorrect insert, the solid end link type oyster bracelet also not correct for early 1970 sub 5513.

From what I can see, the bezel insert and bracelet aren't correct and the case is not very sharp, but the dial is appealing. So maybe $9k? A bit more if he has the original bracelet or if that bracelet has some value, but it looks like it might be aftermarket.

The devil in the details is if you care about getting a proper long 5 bezel as they have gotten VERY expensive.

Yes indeed, basically the French Craigslist, I think. Here is the OP watch. Asking 16,000 Euro if you can believe it.

I just did the math on that.
$19,113!
With the incorrect insert and incorrect bracelet, that’s absolutely crazy.

9000 euros is more like it. Assuming the band is fake.

Yup. Of course, asking prices are often similarly crazy on Craigslist. Or Chrono24 for that matter. However, if the owner is truly the OP's friend, then he may be able to make a fair deal with him.

I wouldn't buy it. With the issues noted above, it's a money pit and a massive time sink. If you really want a Sub, there are much better ones available for way less money.

A friend advertising it on Le Bon Coin and not giving the OP decent pictures (friend, remember?)

Smelly.
