It’s extremely difficult to say no to AP RG in the flesh, especially in a chrono configuration. AP does RG like no one else.

Outside of that, DD40 for sure

I'm as big a fan of gold watches as there is on this forum, but I'm gonna say no way in hell I would trade any of the top row toward a PM.

Now, what to get? If you're going to go YG, a bluesy or a DD40 with a lighter dial color.

RG, I would probably go DD40 with olive. Good luck,

I'd buy a gold Rolex before the herd swings back to PM watches and runs all those up too.

Now turning 50, a few days ago I bought a 116618LN and I cannot be happier. I looked and tried on the DD, which I love, but being a big guy at 6'5" it looks really tiny on me. I chose the LN because if I loved some color with the stainless steel watches, I still think the LB with the Yellow Gold is way too flashy for my personality, again no offense.

I love everything about it. The presence, the different colors in different lights, the weight.

I suggest you go for it now. Good luck and I hope my experience helps, since it's very similar.....

Hi Ale, I will send you PM soon!

I’d say go for the Daytona, it’ll allow you to keep most of your awesome collection. 100% on a full bracelet for your first PM. Also agree with some other that a DD is a good suggestion, but I’d be looking at trading the SS Daytona here so it’s more close to a straight swap.

As far as yellow vs rose, I think that’s mostly about skin tone. I’d REALLY recommend seeing them in person and in different lights - different brands have different color golds that look better or worse on some people. This goes for yellow and for rose.

It seems that most of the votes are for RG 40 DD. That is a very nice watch. The title of your post is "Gold" When one thinks of gold you probably think YG, then RG, maybe WG. When you wear the watch do you want a lot of attention? or subtle? or always hidden under the cuff? A YG Daytona will be noticed from a distance. At this time I am contemplating WG because I want to wear a PM watch in the open and maybe not get the attention. Good luck, plenty to choose from in any brand.

For me the Daytona and Skydweller would go. Capitalise on the hot watches (plus I don't like the thickness of the Skydweller despite loving the look of the dial).

Given your criteria, I would be looking at a Day date, or the daytona in gold (Daytona may help ease the "pain" if you are attached to the 116500). Also, selling down Rolex for a Rolex PM piece makes sense to me.

If you want a dress watch, 5396 is a good shout and reasonably priced (for a Patek). I had the rose gold with breguet numerals for a while.

If you need additional cash for a punchier trade then I would probably sell another of the hot Rolex. It's almost blasphemy here to suggest selling a Daytona, Pepsi and Blue Skydweller but given the premiums involved they would get you an awesome gold watch!

AP RO (and Chrono) in Gold is incredible. That’d be my vote.

First off, very nice collection. My vote would be to add a DD40. It’s just such a great piece that (as many have said before) can be dressed up or down. I normally wear mine with tshirt and sweatpants. Hope this helps! And until then, enjoy your stunning collection!

Hi Vivalas, as others have mentioned, you already have a great collection.

I took the plunge and pulled the trigger on my first PM piece last month. WG DD 60th Olive Green. It’s a game changer. For sure, I smile when I look at my Sub, GMT, S-D etc, it it’s a much broader smile when I look at the DD on my wrist. The weight, the slightly different feeling on the wrist, and the awesome President bracelet.

My collection is below, but trust me, you’ll very quickly have a new favourite.

I had the blue 5711 and it just didn’t do it for me. Unless the RG has a different feel to it maybe? My brother might be getting one so I’d be able to check it out.

I know what you mean re leaning towards YG or RG. It's nice to have at least one nice watch with something other than a white-metal case.

I don't like most Patek models, but I've always been enthusiastic about certain Lange models. If you haven't ruled out Lange, it's seriously worth considering. With preowned Langes, you can get a lot for your money, and the various Lange families (Lange 1, 1815, Richard Lange, Saxonia, etc.) look quite different from each other. The movements are all breathtaking, too. Here are some (mostly) older models that highlight the diversity among the different lines, to help you decide if you'd definitely prefer a different brand. Some are white metal but all of those general styles were available in YG and RG too.

That DD with the olive dial looks great. Interesting collection. Air King on the rubber strap works well.

To the OP, since you have a Vacheron already, it might be worth looking at their gold offerings. The Traditionnelle Day Date at 40mm silver dial for example is amazing in the flesh. Not too dressy with a chunky case. Doesn’t have a gold bracelet though so a little lower key than the other alternatives suggested. You may be after the bracelet too. https://www.vacheron-constantin.com/...000r-9969.html

In saying that and looking at your collection I'm still a true believer your first gold Rolex should be the one and only Rolex Presidential. The one to own now is the YG DD40 in any dial color you want and ALWAYS ALWAYS on bracelet. Trust me on that. If your looking at Rose Gold I suggest you go see one in person and look at it in different lighting. Rolex RG is much much more copperish in color than AP/Patek whos Rose gold is closer to Rolex YG.

Here is a picture to show you the difference in gold

Very very nice ! Hard work pays off

Wow some stunning watches there and I’ll certainly look into them more - I did some research on the brand in the summer and was very impressed.

Some great ideas from people so far, so thank you to everyone. The responses have really got me thinking about a variety of options. It seems that the DD40 is a very popular option. It’s also a watch that I like a lot.

I’m now thinking more full bracelet so less likely to pursue the PP options.

2nd this. My first YG watch and it's getting a lot of wrist time. Wasn't all that into YG before this one and now thinking about adding the 126618. With a YG Daytona, you'll have no risk because it will be easy to sell/trade if you don't like it. The Daytona is extremely comfortable to wear as a daily as well.

Yep go Daytona

I’d pickup the Pateks too but I don’t have a local dealer with a relationship.

I have a couple of gold omegas that are really nice on leather for dress watches.

And ALS 1815 annual calendar in rose gold is stunning and less cash too.
