Opinions on this 5513 please

Dear Forum,

Just wondering why my left-toe starts to wiggle. Whats wrong with this 5513?
(beside the fact that its pretty polished)

Description: "beautiful Rolex Submariner ref.5513 "meter first" in excellent condition and completely contemporary, with a beautiful and very full case, a perfect dial and a magnificent insert. Serial 1.7, dating back to about 1968. Watch in extraordinary condition, from the family of the first owner."

Looking forward to learn or

Thanks
Roland

Not bad except for the pitting. As long as you're not going to get it too wet, it shouldn't be a major issue.

“Pretty polished”? I think the case looks pretty great for a 52 year-old watch.

Agree. May have had some detailing work at some point, but certainly not overpolished.

UPDATE
Well, the Ebay listing is already gone, this 5513 was listed @ 8450 euro's what would have been a great deal i think, or simply "to good to be true". No-history seller. So i was either to late, or it has been pulled.

Ah well...

Q: How safe is it to buy on Ebay? Bottomline: it isn't right?

Many collectors buy watches regularly on eBay. But you have to be able to rely on your own knowledge and judgement.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over that. To me there’s something not right with the watch, just from the initial glance it looked like the whole case shape is wrong. Could just be the weird angles but normally that instant wow factor hits you with a Rolex but something just doesn’t feel right.

As you say, too good to be true. Pics are too good for it to be some old timer not knowing it’s value. Unless the pics were diabolical (like an old gent with a finger print covered lens on his Nokia took shaky pics) there’s no genuine business for high quality, well listed watches like that to be on eBay for cheap.

Thanks, we're on the same frequency. I was in doubt if i have been stupid to be overly cautious , or wise to not have jumped through the loop instantly. From his comments the seller clearly new what he was offering ("original long 5 insert" etc) which made me suspicious at that price.

Never mind, rather lost out on a great deal than see 8500 euro's vanish into the big nothing.

This watch was listed on the forum of another website for 17,800 euros and sold in November 2019.

Either the new owner is letting it go already and taking a large loss for no good reason, or there is something dodgy going on. I know which is most likely.

Found the original (legit) listing of nov 2019. The ebay listing I saw yesterday was using the very same words from the original seller on the other forum (hence my impression he knew what he was selling). Oh dear....

Well, education comes in small steps.

The november 2019 seller just confirmed that he knew his buyer, and that person would definitely not sell again, so it was 100% a scam
