Jaeger/JLC US price increase on Monday June 29th?
My AD told me that there is a JLC price increase on Monday? Anyone else heard that?

Haven’t heard anything. Would not surprise me though. I saw Zentih do a price increase this year too.

It's funny seeing several brands raise prices amidst a global pandemic.
AP, ALS, all raised prices by at least 5% this year. Good luck, folks. Swiss watch exports are down 80% in April/May. |

Price increase now seems nuts.

Maybe there is pent up demand and low supply? Hard to imagine for a brand like JLC that doesn’t currently have any hot models that resell over retail.

Agreed. I said the same thing when ALS did their price increasing during the start of the pandemic. Now just seems even dumber.
For JLC? Nope. |

It might seem strange at first but I believe we will see prices go up on a lot of goods with high human involvement due to the pandemic. Cost of employment have gone up and productivity down. Imagine the inefficiencies created by all the social distancing and lockdown measures all over the globe. Not saying this specific price hike is due to that but going forward.. |

That generally makes sense for lower margin products. These watches aren't in that class of products, though.

If it is true, I think the timing is ill-informed and sends the wrong signal.

presumably a big part of the decrease in watch exports was the fact that most manufactures stopped manufacturing for most of April, no? |

US market isn't where JLC is focused on. Last month a single JLC AD in Shanghai moved 500 watches in one day. |

The only thing that’ll increase is the discount...

Ouch, yeah, I visited my AD last week and the prices were higher than the last time I was in (specifically looking at the Reverso). Seems a bit odd for a brand that doesn't seem to move much. I was really there looking for Rolex (mostly wiped out) and trying on the DJ41.
All the JLCs that were there in May seem to still be in the case, with the addition of the tribute Reverso that was not there before. |

Everyone in the entire industry jumped on the bandwagon this time.
No one did *not* raise prices. Even tiny indies who don't really have enough traction (yes, FP Journe has traction and hype, but many others do not) -- all raised prices. |
