Unique Incoming

I picked this up as a gift for my aerospace engineer/watch enthusiast son. Couldn't think of a cooler piece that brings his two passions together. Amazing creation I thought some here would appreciate.

Magnificent!

Reminds me of a clockwork Lava Lamp.

Thanks everyone; I feel very lucky to be able to get one for him.

It's a limited piece called "Destination Moon" designed by MB&F and built by L’Epée 1839.

Here is a cool video that shows the unique vertical movement and discs used to display the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD-kLkbycCg

That's an awesome piece of practical art. I'm sure he will love it. How big is it? 16 inches?
