Only you can (and should) decide what floats your boat, and will give you long term satisfaction.
I love the watch. Was curious about any potential issues with owning an older watch and potential resale value (I am not familiar with Lange pricing versus other brands), and if I overpaid for the watch.

I have an older Lange 1. No issues at all. Runs like butter.

Absolutely stunning. I likely will never be able to play in that stratosphere but can ogle.

Man, I need a Lange back in my collection. The black dial MP is so nice for the money on pre-owned market.

to lange owners; does the empty date window bothers you? it's a put off factor for me and not able to get over it.

Not to fan the flames, but this really does haunt me from trying it on...

I don't think it is the most iconic Lange 1, however. The most iconic would be this:

No brainer for me; the most iconic is a YG with champagne dial in 38.5mm (no MF).

What do you guys mean by the Lange 1 in yellow gold is discontinued? Is it a certain dial you are referring to?

On the lange website it shows that yellow gold and champagne dial is an option for the base Lange 1 still.

I think the most iconic is the yellow gold with champagne dial. The most recent version is reference 191.021. Unfortunately, I believe the yellow gold is discontinued.

The rose gold with "sargente" dial is still in production, reference 191.032. It is as beautiful, in its own way, as the yellow gold version. You can't go wrong with either model.

Unless this changed within the last few months, Lange still makes the 191.021, which succeeded the 101.021. The 191.021 is on Lange's most recent price list dated July 2020.

To check this sort of thing, see the "Historic Data" and "Annual Prices (US)" tabs on the spreadsheet at: http://goo.gl/vWFC7Q
