Another SEL bracelet on 5 digit Question
I'm interested in a 5 digit no date sub, specifically the 14060, M if possible. However, I don't care for the old style bracelets. I have a Kermit sub that I put a modern glidelock on and it fit well, looks and wear great.
In reading some of the old posts it seems the 14060M will not take a modern SEL bracelet. I already have a spare SEL bracelet EO 78200. IS THERE a version of the 14060M that will take it, I don't really understand and can't visualize why it won't work if it fits on my kermit? I thought these 5 digit cases were the same. These are the ends of the spare SEL bracelet I have. Thoughts from those in the know. Thanks. |

No, there is no version that will take a solid end link. The cases of all 14060 variants don’t have the groove that’s required to fit the bottom of the solid end link.

It can be done with modifications such as surgery on at least the bracelet SEL and perhaps the watch case as well. Jocke or someone on this forum has done it with pictures. Maybe others too.

MMMmmm... So can you tell me which of the 5 digit subs do have the correct case for the SEL bracelet if not the 14060? It fits my Kermit, but I really wanted a 2 liner. Ugh!

So I was just reading though an old post showing a modern glidelock on a 5 digit 16710 GMT. Surely, there is a way for me to use my above modern SEL bracelet that came off a modern 6 digit GMT, on a 5 digit sub or gmt. I wanted to use it on a 14060 but everyone said it wouldn't work. More thoughts on getting it on a 5 digit? Does anyone have more of a comprehensive list of which 5 digit cases will fit? thanks !

No, it won't work.
You need the shelf machined into the case to accept an SEL and the Sub was never machined to accept one, only the Sub Date. Here is the difference. SubShelf.JPG

Only if the 5 digit originally came with solid end links

anyone have a list of the 5 digits that came with SEL? Are you saying a sub date 5 digit will fit my modern bracelet?

If you just want the clasp, it is a direct bolt-on to earlier Oyster bracelets.

Thanks, but naturally I want to use the entire bracelet. Oh, and technically the spare bracelet I have and want to use is an SEL easy link from a 2008ish GMT.

You're one of those people. Who want what they can't have.
