Somewhere out there is an owner of a very nice "T" serial Polar who probably thought the watch they bought was almost NOS.
I agrre with you 100% and don't join the club of not sending a watch for service to a RSC. Rolex sav (service après vente) in Geneva is superb! That might be different with others RSC's.

Enjoy your new watch :) Thats how Rolex is Rolex today. Doesnt matter if its a service case or not since its not an engine block.

You're right in some respects but try selling one of these older oness without easily identifiable matching numbers and getting a reasonable price
Fundamentally it is the same as a set of wheels when it comes to resale to anybody who is not totally ignorant.

Glad to see this saga come to a positive ending! Nice to see Rolex came through and did the right thing. Makes me comfortable spending money with them vs other brands.

Very few companies would go to this much trouble to correct a mistake. Rolex has good customer service but let's be honest this is way above and beyond what Rolex offers for such errors 99.9% of the time. Was expecting a refund of the service cost and maybe a free service next round. Shocked I tell you.

Congrats OP. This is quite the story and quite the watch now. Dare I say even more collectible. Wear in good health.

Re-engraving serial numbers into a new case. lol. Wow! Shocked I tell you.

Maybe some of the old heads on TRF, like Padi or one of the guys who has seen it all, can chime in how rare this is
When the RSC damaged my case during an OF swap earlier this year, they gave me a brand new mid-case with original serial engraved. These things are possible, but you have to get in touch with the right folks who can authorize.

Rolex have just restored their reputation in my eyes. I don’t think the original problem represents bad customer service - these things can happen. But how it is then dealt with does represent the level of service they provide. Because they are fixing it and going to the trouble of providing a same serial number case I am impressed. I have been thinking for a while that they don’t care but am very pleased to be proven wrong. They have just managed to turn a negative story into a reassuring positive one.

After contemplating for a bit I've decided to do what I originally bought the Kermit for....to wear it.

So on the stroke of midnight Xmas eve/morning I pulled the stickers and put it on my wrist.

Merry Christmas everyone

One more thing they definitely did change that I didn't request originally (I forgot to at the time) and was not documented, is the winding crown. It was polished down so as the Rolex crown and 3 dots had lost its original definition, the crown on it now is brand new.

You’re highly blessed. You basically received a time-machine experience ...taken back in time to get your same watch brand new, and then brought back to today. Super happy for you. Merry Christmas.
