Hey Everyone,

After been a watch fan for years but more recently a rolex addict since I bought my 50th Submariner LV a year ago I recently decided to joined the forum. I've recently seen this model seen below and I'am considering purchasing, what you think??

Welcome to the forum, Peter.

If you like it, get it. It's a good looking watch, but it's all about personal preference. For example I prefer Roman numeral dials to Arabic dials, but that's just preference. You can't go wrong purchasing any Rolex, in the end, especially if you like it.

Welcome to TRF, Peter. I gotta go along with others. Great looking watch, just not my personal taste.

But what's important is: What do you think of it? If you like it enough, then by all means get it. You might want to give it a test wear before you fork over the cash for it, though. Sometimes a watch that looks great in pics just doesn't cut it on the wrist. Take it from one who's been there.

That's a sweet watch - where did you find it? One of the beauties/drawbacks of a Rolex (depending on your point of view) is the limited range of models - some may argue that if it aint broken don't fix it - but if you own a Sub / GMT II etc. - you may own a great watch, but so do hundreds of thousands of others (and many just because they want to be seen wearing one). I have never seen that model before - it's pretty cool - can you tell us a little more about it? If you like it, you should buy it. You'll be dead long enough.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, I have tried it on twice now, its a new enough design from Rolex's new steel range that they revamped around a year or so ago. I have only seen it in Geneva and here in Galway, Ireland. It's unusual design reminds me of 1970's chic with an air of mystery/spy movie about it and its 36 mm face will go sharp with a suit. I' am going to pull the trigger on it tomorrow. Thanks again,

The watch is great I have seen it with the fluted bezel and it makes the dial stand out even more...it also unfortunately raises the price

Hi Peter.....and welcome to TRF.

Since you asked, that watch in the picture is not my cuppa. The surround numbers are too in your face and the whole dial looks way too over-crowded.

But, at the end of the day, it's YOU who's going to wear it.....so if you really, really like it, then go for it.

A word of caution though: Make sure you really like it......and don't go by anybody else's opinion. That watch will be very difficult to resell if you change your mind.

That looks like the latest 2009 Air-King dial. My AD has a few in stock and they look pretty cool in the flesh.

That's a nice watch. I concur with others that you should try it on and see if you really like it, if you can live without a date feature, etc.

well everyone, i pulled the trigger and picked her up yesterday but i did try a different dial oyster with the 18k white gold fluted bezel upon some advice i recieved in the forum. So i got the ad to switch the dials and it looked fantastic, it really brought out the beautiful dial and added a bit of extra style to the watch, will post some pics in the next few days.
