A curious question about Harrods
Has anyone here bought a 'hot' sports model from the Rolex store in Harrods?
Would anyone know how much would have to be spent before they would let you have one? Or is it strictly Vip's? My only 'claim to fame' is that the gentleman pulled out a Milgauss (black dial green crystal) when I last enquired in Harrods. Cheers! Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk |

Harrods is probably the hardest places to get a sports model in UK, I'm sure those models are saved for the mega rich clients who spend £000s in store

I tried to get an AP in Harrods for 2 years and just went round and round in circles. I got nowhere. Went elsewhere and I got it in a week. I got the impression that there are a lot of big big spenders both from the U.K. and people on holiday dropping serious money on things in the store that get what they want. It may be different this year as people aren’t travelling.

Harrods clientele will likely change massively in 2021 with 1) continued reduction in int’l tourists due COVID and 2) no longer offering tourists VAT 20% tax back.
Should make for a better buying proposition for us locals...

Whilst the VAT reclaim is certainly a factor, the pound gaining strength may also have a impact factor for shopping tourists.
That said, many countries impose high taxes on ‘luxury goods’ and so prices in the UK for tourists hoping to pick up a bargain, may still prove attractive... On one hand I want the country and economy to prosper, and on the other I really want to be able to pick up prices easier. |

I got a Sea-Dweller and a DJ41 SS. Promised me a Batman for the 1st week of Jan, as well as an AP RO Chrono in Blue sometime in Jan, will see about it.
I don't spend anything else there really but just before Christmas been "told off" by the personal shopper that was allocated to me, when I asked why I am not even being shown anything, and she said that I am in the competition with those who spend 6-7 digits on fashion or even in the food court and have to wait.. Before I was shown a TT Sub blue dial, Wimbledon DJ41, Milgauss but passed on all, as it is not for me.. |
