Which materials is used for Tudor BB58 hands/markers?

Rolex makes a big deal out of the fact that the hour markers and hands on many of their models are solid gold, they are shiny, slow to tarnish, won't corrode, etc.

I've search to no success on the materials on current production Black Bays and can find no details.
Are the BB hands and hour plot surrounds nickel or chrome plating that's going to pit and corrode green in a few years?

Are they gold plated or gold filled?

Are they also solid gold like Rolex, but they don't mention it to differentiate the product from big brother?
It would seem this is one point that would be talked about extensively on this forum but I can't find any threads here or elsewhere discussing it.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Gold plating prevents corrosion too. Most of its electrical applications are for this reason.

Well, that was easy enough. Gold plating should certainly prove sufficient in protecting against tarnish in this application.

Thanks.

Apologies for the garbled thread title.

My understanding is that the hands in Tudor watches are “gold toned” but are neither actual gold nor gold plated.

I would think if there were any actual gold, there would be no question as it would be explicitly mentioned in the brochures as they are in Rolex watches.

However, we do know that their models that are marketed as Two Tone do contain gold with solid gold bezels, gold capped bracelet links, and solid gold crown.

I agree with you. If it was gold they would market it like crazy.

That’s what I believe as well, when I was looking at the Black one originally, SA told me hands and markers were Gold which I questioned - her Manager said I was correct and they weren’t Gold, I’m wondering now if they are Gold Capped.

How do you market gold plated hands and markers and make it sound at all good?

Hahahahaha that’s what I was thinking! Would sound pretty silly/cheap to see “gold plated hands” highlighted in the web description.

Here’s a good example of how from Breitling.
