A mini 41 sub review, and a request for my ultimate Rolex

I have owned the 41 Sub for about a month, overall, I am enamored with it. but, I always want something more and better (sounds like my dating life ). The over-all fit, legibility, general “Feel” of wearing the sub is absolutely perfect. i really like the dimensions and way the watch wears on my wrist. it is solid, not too hefty, easily read, functional, just an excellent model I compare it to my old GMT, and there are some things I like, some things I prefer in the GMT. First, over-all, the appearance and wear of the Sub wins hands down. The GMT is a great watch, and to all you owners I congratulate you on a exceptional piece But, compared to the (new) sub, I prefer the way the sub wears flatter, the dimensions just work better for me. The bezel on the sub appears a little thinner(?). I just like the way the sub is overall.

BUT....

There are a couple features I miss from the GMT. The first, (obviously) is the second time zone. I travel quite a bit, a lot internationally, having the home (or any other time zone) at a glance is very convenient. Second, I REALLY miss the jumping hour-hand function on the GMT. When I travel to a city a few hours behind or in front of my home town, the GMT made it so easy to just click and have the hour hand “jump” the appropriate number of hours. It may seem trivial, but to manually adjust the hands is a bit of a pain, I know I was just spoiled by the ease of the GMT being able to do it.

Conclusion: I like the functionality of the 3285 movement and the 40MM GMT watch, but prefer the wear and appearance of the 41 MM sub. Soooooooooooo.....

Solution: A 3285 GMT in the new 41MM (sub) case!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I have already checked with Bas, and he said it is possible to put that movement in the new case, so.... Why Not?????? What does everyone else think? Would you like to see the GMT in the new 41 design? I sure would!!!!!!!!

Rolex!!!!!! Are you listening!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The 40mm GMT is IMO perfect, however I have no doubt that the next major "change" (outside of releasing a Coke) will be to a 41mm size.

+1

The Exp II has the GMT function you are looking for and very similar lug shape and same 21mm lug/bracelet width as new sub.

OMG, you sick, sick man!

I’m in. Let’s try it!

I need a 126710 GMT to give it a shot. If I had one I’d try it tonight. But, I let mine go...

I do wonder how the bezel would play out. Feels like you’d be stuck with the bezels having to remain on each case. Let’s see if there are any other members with the 2 watches who are absoutely nuts, like us.

In the end, I suspect this will be academic.

And your best bet is the 16710. Man, that’s the flexible, killer GMT us travelers need.

The new Sub sounds and looks like a hit. Looking forward to seeing one in the metal.
