What should i do?

Ok guys. I have been made redundant after 20 years with the same company, have received a nice pay out and am blessed to have walked into a nice similar paid job that I start tomorrow.

As I have just had a landmark birthday this month as well, I have decided to treat myself. My conundrum is, I have a BB41 Blue Dial that I really have grown to appreciate, but I have always fancied a New Explorer 1 39mm. The wait lists on these seem to have come down significantly in the UK as well recently. Do I:

1 - Trade in the BB41 for an Explorer - it would be nice but I can’t justify keeping both and feel the Explorer would make the BB41 redundant.

Or

2 - Keep the BB41 and get a BB58 Black Dial to go with it.

Your input / thoughts are welcome.

Sounds like you want the explorer. so either trade the bb41 towards it or buy one. The bb58 sounds like an after thought in your post.

I’m a fan of small collections and consolidating, so I’d do that.

Wait a week to see what happens in the Rolex lineup, then decide. If nothing fancies your eye more than the Explorer, get the Explorer. It's a great watch. Oh, and keep your BB41. You just lucked out getting hired fast, and you deserve a prize for 20 years.

You only live once, mate. Get your Explorer and keep the blue BB41 for when you fancy blue.

Get yourself the Explorer. Sounds like you deserve it and is a bit more special than a BB58 to mark the occasion

This is a great answer, it lets you see what's new coming from Rolex to prevent FOMO and gives you time to sleep on it.

If it were me, I'd go for the Explorer

Go for the Explorer. You deserve to mark the occasion. 2 BBs is redundant, IMO.

My vote is Explorer. New beginnings call for something special to mark the occasion.

Move the BB as I doubt you'll wear it much after getting the 214270

The Explorer will not make a BB41 redundant. They are very different watches.

If it's not a burden, keep the Tudor and get the Explorer.

I don't usually respond to these types of posts, but in this case I think you're not giving the Tudor the respect it deserves.

This. Diver vs everyday versatile watch. Explorer can serve as your dressy watch in a pinch...

I would say keep the BB41 and get the explorer. I don't think it's redundant. If you don't feel attached to the BB41, then trade up but I think you should keep it.

I took a bit of a gamble today after having gone into my AD last week and ordered an Explorer 1. I’m glad I did as after having had a lovely Tudor BB41 for nearly a year, as much as I like it I have found it is a bit too big and a bit heavy so I am trading it in. I would have been tempted by a black or white dial OP39, but I don’t like that new OP41 at all. Too big for me and the dials aren’t as nice as the simple but classy baton only OP39 black and white dials.

I see it has the new 70 hour movement in it and easy link on the bracelet but I prefer the 39mm size. It would have been a no brainier for me to order an OP39 with new movement, easy link and the white or black single baton dial. I think if they bring out an Explorer next year with the new movement, price will go up significantly and they will up the size to 41mm which isn’t for me thanks.

Keep bb41 and get the explorer

The extra weight on bb41 is the reason I'm still using it as my daily watch.

That’s not an option unfortunately, financially I can only have the Explorer by trading in the BB41.

What should i do?

UPDATE - Love the Explorer but did miss having a Blue Dial and Snowflake Hands so have now bought a BB58 Blue which I’m finding is a perfect accompaniment to the Explorer 39mm. Wears way more comfortable than my old BB41 Blue did.
