Thanks for the clarification. Large %age of watches listed on Chrono are from USA so that narrows the field down for grey purchases in the UK. I suspect that a few people have been caught out by this and had something of a shock when HM Customs take their 'cut'.

I have imported from HK before - it's closer to 25% to the UK. Let's hope we can get a trade deal with the US!

This is why I was glad to get my 126622 3 weeks ago or so in lieu of the price rise which is pretty much guaranteed and would have that pushed that watch over the 10k mark which would have made it an more unappealing purchase. I fear a price rise across the board even for the new models.

As has been said tho - demand wont drop in the slightest for any of the hot models so Rolex will do what they have always done.

man, people throw around economic edicts without much backup. A couple of people commented on rising inflation. According to the Office of National Statistics, the UK CPI for 2020 is 0.3% as of November. The only danger of inflation right now in the UK is from the Bank of England, who may take measures to pump up prices to reach the target rate of 2%. Fears of recession are completely tied to enforced shutdowns as part of the covid response. A widely available vaccine will take the shackles off the economy.

Not really. People are well prepared to pay
They’re happy to price out people who aren’t

A trade deal with the US wont make a huge difference to import cost. The bulk of what you are paying on import is UK VAT at 20% - that won't go away.

Also US and UK prices are partly incomparable both on the Rolex site itself as well as places like Chrono24. US prices have no sales tax whilst UK prices have VAT at 20% included.

Pound has been rising in value of late post the brexit deal. Hopefully Rolex have a rethink but I doubt it....

Ah, very good points! Thanks for clarifying.

Does this historically means if prices are unchanged on 1st of January that they will remain the same throughout the year?

No, they can raise prices whenever they like and have done so before.

Haven't heard of any price increases from my AD but I can see the GMT Master 2 tone went from £10850 to £11850 on the Rolex website...#

No change on DJ's, no change on GMT Steel, no change on sub steel & two tone, still checking other models just now

The GMT Root Beer ref. 126711CHNR is priced £11,850.00 since the beginning of 2020; no recent increases occurred.

With shops shut in most of the UK and likely to be shut for at least the next few weeks there is no point in Rolex increasing prices as retail therapy is not available at the moment.

If the UK is due to have an increase my guess would be that it will happen once some resemblance of normality returns.

Just my 10p's worth of opinion.

My bad was it not £10850 before?

Looks like no increase then in general.

During the lock down period ADs were offering "click and collect" services.

Yes, I have had that call, but that's not the same as having stores open, you can sell the 'unobtainables' on click and collect, in fact it wouldn't be unreasonable to say that this is virtually no change from normal as they were never 'walk-in' items.

But what the stores miss out on are those people who just walk-in and are looking for a special watch, people who are happy to take those SS & TT DJ's or PM YM's & DD's that are sat in the window.

If stores are not open these pieces are not being sold so why increases prices in the UK on these items, if an increase was required and it was my decision I would wait until restrictions were eased and stores were re-opening, maybe an increase from April.

Time to end all this speculation we will all know when and where there will be any official Rolex price rise.
